v6 to v8 swap

Can anyone tell me if any v8 will match up will a v6 auto tranny.
I have a bad v6 in a 1999 dodge dakota and am not wanting to part out a decent truck. Can I get a 318 0r 360 to match up with existing stock automatic transmission or do I call Joe the wrecker?

The V6 you have is basicly a 318 minus 2 cylinders, so in short, yes, however, do wait for the been there and done that crew. I *THINK* there's a cave eat in there someplace.

v6 transmission will bolt up to any mopar small block, but the 360 requires different weights on the torque converter. 318 will work with no mods to the transmission, as far as wirning you will need the v8 computer and add the wires for the 2 extra injectors

It would be less work and less money to just sell the V6 truck and buy one with a factory V8.
