Hoorah Seabees. I was in NMCB-74 in Gulfport, MS.

Also did time at Naval Special Warfare Unit 4, Special Boat Team 22, and ST-8.

Stationed in Puerto Rico 2 years.

6-8 month tours in Spain, Okinawa, Guam, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq.

Was in 2002-2011. Had a couple tough ones. Sometimes I wish I never would have joined but I would’ve done it all over again given the chance.

Those were the good ole days, huh. Did you ever want to go back after you got home? For some weird reason when I got back from a deployment I didn’t feel comfortable in an American town. Weird shit.

Yes definitely, life seemed sometimes easier in war. Had most my friends with me, had purpose, missions to do. Lot of my veteran friends miss it also. Oddly

I was at Ft Gordon going through the 31E10- Field Radio Repair course in 1984. Got there in May and left in November 1984. Sounds like we were there at the same time.

I served in the Army National Guard, 2000-2012. Sergeant/E5 11B Infantry. 4 years on active duty, including 2 combat tours in Iraq. I was wounded in a rocket attack in ‘04. Unfortunately lasting injuries from that eventually led to me leaving the military. I’m still glad that I had a chance to serve.

US Navy, 1987-2007, Cryptologic Technician Maintenance. Spent most of my career on Submarines until they decomm’d them for being too old, built in the 60’s. Pretty much under the ocean for everything from 1988-2000.

Is it true you get nose bleeds at the surface? Just Kidding. After my tour in the Marines, I spent 4 years at AUTEC in the Bahamas. I was an In-Water Controller, I might know more about your boat than you know. Sush...... I love ASW warfare and tactics. We won't talk about the USS Dallas on the reef in the early '80's.

                                No, but sometimes this happens.

Yeah, I'm aware. I was a Nuke Electrician on the USS Bluefish ( SSN 675 ) from 76 - 81 and I get it. Bob

I'm just curious, have any one of you had shore leave on AUTEC, Andros Island? I was the youngest In Water controller, at 25. You Submariners partied hard ashore.

I’ve been to Ft. Ritchie and to Site R (ANMCC) I helped install an EMP hardened communication system at Site R and the mountain top. It was the GWEN system. It was scrapped after 6 months online. It took a total of 4 years to construct that nationwide comm system for the USAF. I also did it at NORAD CMC in CO and the NMCC at the Pentagon.
