Small block water pump, what are you using to block off the heater & by-pass hose openings besides rubber caps & clamps?
Nice find on the CVF pump!Best investment I’ve made in a long time. CVF water pump with 3/4 NPT threaded inlets/outlets that can be capped. Keeps engine amazingly cool.

CVF runs promos on EBay at times. I got mine for $50'69 and earlier iron pump- just thread out the nipples and screw in pipe plugs.
'70 and later aluminum pump- Thread the pump fitting as mentioned above. Or loop ta piece of hose from the pump to the manifold fitting.
Nice find on the CVF pump!
The Speedmaster pump could be an option, too; although I've never seen one in person... but seems kind of pricey compared to the CVF.

I bought a CVF last year works great !! in the past I have drilled and taped the outlets for pipe threadCVF runs promos on EBay at times. I got mine for $50
A few different companies sell the same pump. CVF, PRW, Edelbrock.Would you mind sharing with us what where who etc? on the pump?

What'd you pay? $100?I ordered the CVF water pump
I went with these.I bought a new water pump that I could put plugs in. Went from ugly to beautiful lol
Just curious are you running a thermostat if so how, the bypass hose is there for circulation with the thermostat closed without the bypass you can't use a thermostat just a restrictor plate to provide some head pressor for the pump
about that, 98.00What'd you pay? $100?
no thermostat, just a restrictor, it's on a race car.Just curious are you running a thermostat if so how, the bypass hose is there for circulation with the thermostat closed without the bypass you can't use a thermostat just a restrictor plate to provide some head pressor for the pump
Not true. It’s like any other engine without a bypass hoseJust curious are you running a thermostat if so how, the bypass hose is there for circulation with the thermostat closed without the bypass you can't use a thermostat just a restrictor plate to provide some head pressor for the pump
Actually every car with built with a closed cooling system with a thermostat HAS TO HAVE a bypass to allow for coolant circulation thru the engine on warming up even those with the thermostat in the bottom hose. A lot of cars use the heater system for the bypass to facilitate quicker warming of the heater it is plumbed from the high pressure outlet side to the water pump inlet low pressure side. Not true. It’s like any other engine without a bypass hose
Yeah we used to do that on Jaguars as a regular maintenance routine so when filling the cooling system it would not air lock and overheat. Did it a lot on American cars for the same reason. My engine builder (well respected on this site) welded up the bypass outlet on my water pump and told me to drill a hole in my thermostat on a 99% street driven vehicle.
