I was always under impression that if wood was treated, it was best to leave it bare at least for a while. Some guys around here say not to paint treated wood at all...but I know zero about it.
When we had the deck put up, I was told not to treat it for at least 6 months. After that I stained it every couple of years on the top and bottom and it lasted for 15 years and then only a few of the outer boards for the floor were bad when I had it replaced. If you use paint or stain the key is to use a quality product.I was always under impression that if wood was treated, it was best to leave it bare at least for a while. It’s been a 6+ year process of waiting but we’re finally building our house! We were supposed to do this in spring of 2020 but of course, the overreaction that was Covid happened and everything got cancelled.
Fast forward thru years of waiting for an opening for a contractor, we finally convinced our bank to let me be the contractor. Course I’m subbing out a lot of the physical work but we finally broke ground a couple weeks ago on the drive way, now the basement is going in!
