a mate has fitted a few of the ch-edelbrock carbs off ebay and says they work/tune fine.

So barring like major failure, this other engine seems to be a poly 318 from a 66 charger. Which would you reccommend to build? My brother was not aure if it was the 361 or the 318. Now i have two 318's.

So there is no shortage of blocks around me. Do y'all think stroke one os these badboys out? Or just get a 340 or 360 and go that route? Money and effort are not really an issue but i am not dropping like 6k on crate engine.

Punch that poly 318 out 0.040" to 3.950"
Stroke it to 4"
You now have a 392 SEMIHEMI.

I was thinking similar to this use the front for a mold and make a fiber glass front, and then attach it nicely to a van high armrest storage box thingy.

Notch back 'Cuda. One of my all time favorites !

I have a 68 notchback… my favorite car ( at the moment) lol. I rebuilt the 318 with a mild cam and closed chambered 273 heads. Has lots of spice yet still very reliable.. runs like a sewing machine

I would for sure take the time to try and start that engine before pulling it sometimes they come around pretty quickly. Also gives you clues on what to look for if when you tear i to it.

Another vote for firing the engine briefly. Is this a stock 318 or did someone (your brother maybe) go thru it previously? I'm usually all about working with what you have but in this case, if you're going to put in $ to redo the engine, I'd seriously consider finding a running 360 and slide that in. Nothing against 318s but, if you can add 42 more cubic inches for the same cost as doing the 'teen, I'd be looking for a 360. You say you have a junkyard next to your work so check with them - maybe they have a good running 360 in a wrecked car/truck? Regardless of what you do, you are going about things in an organized and methodical manner. Good on ya! Keep the '67 Plymouth shop manual - as mosleyme said, the Barracuda was an offshoot of the Valiant product line and they share most common parts.
