...last night.
Two drummers, two excellent guitarists, very good keyboard man, wonderful bassist. The sounded, and even looked like the Allman Bros.
The two guitarists had Allman and Bets down to a tee. Even the dual drum solos were spot on.

Then it hit me... Why the f%^* am I paying $5.00 for a bottle of beer (plus tips) to listen to a group of imposters play, note for note, what the Allman Brothers Band played about 40 years ago, when I can do the exact same thing for free at home or in my truck, without having to end up smelling like a stale beer and an ashtray?

Luckily, I got an emergency call from a customer who need some help "right now". I got paid to leave. :D

Now that is an excellent start to a great night! The real deal comes around NYC once a year for a few days for a most festive time. I myself have never seen them. My freinds keep telling me to come out. I should do it one of these days before it's to late.

I saw them with the Grateful Dead once.

The Allman Bros are awesome live.

Love to jam their stuff on the gee tar.

Because you support live music. Just because its a copy doesnt make it any easier to play. If we dont support musicians life would be pretty boring. Theres a difference between musicians and composers.some arent both.

I also support originality and freedom of musical expression. While I love listening to live music, I prefer being surprised by the performance instead of knowing what's coming next, note of note. I'm a bass player myself, have been for about 45 years, now. I have no problem with musicians taking artistic license when covering songs.

I think it wonderful that they can duplicate the original, but, I'd like to see what they can come up with.

Go to a Gov't Mule concert. I always liked the Allman Bros but these guys are the soul of the band. Warren Haynes and Allen Woody (RIP) started the band as a side project to the Allman Bros. I caught them at a small theatre I was bouncing at a while back and I gotta tell you, they flat out kick live. Plus you don't have to go through the pain of watching Greg getting carried on and off the stage.

I'm going to see them in March at the Beacon Theater in NYC.
Always a good time.
