Ok gang, I need some education. Took this transmission out of my 65 Valiant. This tailshaft wasn’t what I expected. My 66 Belvedere has a 904 where the yoke slips into the end. This one is bolt on. Was this type used in All early A bodies?

In 65 the Slant cars were still using the flange type for the 904 to use the stock up.My 65 Dart's 904 was the flange type. In 65 the V8 cars got slip yoke. Now when it comes to Ma Mopar their were things that never were. I got a 65 Belvedere and it had the 64 Taper axle rear under it.So early/late change over was in 1965.By 66 all should have been slip yoke.

Interesting. When I looked up the codes, the car originally came with a V8. I guess whoeve put this tranny in had to swap the driveshaft/yoke. Thanks for the info!!

My ‘65 Barracuda has/had that style tail end too. Cable shift.
Ball and trunnion type slip yoke. I now have regular slip yoke type to go in. It was a v8 car.

A friend of mine had a 273 four barrel '65 GT many years ago. It had the Ball and Trunnion front joint like that had.

B&T Baby! Good enough for the Ramchargers! Yup: 66 was the slip joint year.

Thanks guys! Definitely learned something. Seems to make this tranny hard to sell. Not many want this style.

Well in 20 years a purist will give you double what it’s worth today. Mine’s going in a shed with the driveshaft.
