What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Switched the avatar over to "race mode" meaning dropped the exhaust and put the slicks on. No more street driving for awhile as race season is about to begin! Been 12 months since the Sportsman bracket win...what will this season bring?

Badass! I'm curious what size tires those are, front and back. They look great! Good luck.

Figured I'd share my oiling modifications over here too, I had to rethink this because there wasn't enough room with how bulky the fittings are and the hose would have kinked.
Anyways here is what I did today.

Thx Evan! Think I've shared it elsewhere but if not, the rears MT ET Drag bias slicks (28/10.5-15W). The fronts are MT Sportsman 26/7.5-15 (8-plys, p/n 1573).

And thx for the well-wishes. Always need that every time you go out racing - there are sharks out there no matter where you go, what class you run, how fast/slow your car is, etc, etc!

Now that I have fixed a number of issues, I'm trying to drive it a bit more.

Only thing I noticed on today's drive that worried me is it bottoms out on speed bumps. I am going to see if I can rework the Addco sway bar mounts as they hang below the K-member.

Had to open up the hole to drill out the stripped Allen bolt. (Opened it up enough to get a 1/4” drive 7/16 socket in there). I’ll put a hole plug over it :usflag:

What we do a LOT of at the track. Sit in the pits and wait....

Then go win a round or two, wait, wait some more until its dark and getting later and go up and light the red bulb :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: . If I'm going to do that, I want to do it early in the day so i can get home at a decent hour!!

Put a new set of Cragar S/S's and Cooper Cobra tires on the 'Cuda. The old wheels and tires just didn't look "right" to me. Tires were a little too big , raised white letters out and air shocks jacked to the moon. I am in the middle of putting a new six pack set up on or my pictures would be outside. They look better and the stance is "right"

Finally able to break the cam in. I was having an issue with a lifter not rotating.

I'm using an ol' points distributor to temporarily run this engine. First the points were pretty worn out. I had to file them flat and then set the gap at 0.017". Next I static timed the engine to about 10° BTDC. Then I started the engine and with my museum piece Sears engine analyzer, I measured the dwell at 28°. I haven't set points in 40 years - it was a fun trip down memory lane.

Nothing with the Barracuda lately because I recently bought this crazy tandem axle '79 Dodge "Van". Big thanks to Keith @66340SEDAN for hooking me up! It sat for years and was badly neglected well before that. Just trying to de-gunk everything for now and clean it up so it's more enjoyable to work on. Going through the brakes also, then on to a tune-up. Did some cleanup on one of the slotted mags for fun. She's a hot mess but has some potential for a fun tow rig. 360 4 barrel showing 74k on the odometer.
just trying to get it to run decent and stop for now! The brakes didn't work at all and the front calipers were freezing up. replacing the lines, hoses, calipers, master cylinder, etc.
Cheers!

I put on my exhaust resonators in hopes of reducing my highway drone. Still working on getting my high-amp alternator in, so I didnt get to test drive it.
