What battery to use in my daily driver recommendations

What is the best battery to choose for my daily driver???
I am currently looking at DieHard, Duracell, or Interstate...

What do you think is the best battery either one of these or another brand??? What experience have you had with batteries and how long did they last???
 
Never Start from Wal Mart. Most of the batteries they sell are made by Johnson Controls. Also, if you have an issue, there are thousands of stores to handle your warranty.

I've had the best luck with Diehard and Duracell. I wouldn't buy it from auto zone or Walmart. You don't want to be stranded. Cheaper isn't always better.
 

I have never gotten a battery from Autozone that didn't outlive its projected lifetime. I buy all of mine from Autozone, except for the one I bought at a junkyard a while back to move a parts car that I bought around. The best batteries I've ever had are the two that came from the factory in my 2004 Dodge 2500 diesel. They lasted 15 years!

If I told you the same company makes all 3 of these batteries, would you believe me ? Johnson Controls makes all 3 of these batteries. I usually head over to Costco, and pick up an Interstate from them. They have a very good return policy as well, no questions asked.
 
Interstate hands down. All my daily drivers have had them for decades. Longest life battery from them lasted 10 years... before I replaced it with another Interstate.
 
I use to sell Interstate when I was in business... Five years ago I started buying them through Costco... And after putting them in three of my cars the first one took a crap after less than a year, Costco replaced it... The new one died in three weeks.... Costco replaced it... The new one died in a month.... All the Costco Interstates have died & I've replaced all of them with Optima Gel batteries...... No more problems...

Yes, the warranty periods and return/warranty policy are best.

In true Costco fashion their name brands are built for them specifically and many times lower quality.

I'm surprised you even step out your front door. :rolleyes:

Having said that, their old Kirkland batteries had one of the highest ratings on the market. Who knew.

Yup, the Costco Interstates are three year warranty max.... Some are only 18 mos...

When I was getting my battery replace the second time (third battery) there were three other people in warrantying batteries, two of those people had experienced multiple failures.... I don't know what was going on but they gave me 100% credit on all three batteries toward the Optima batteries...

Yes, but that 100% non pro-rated replacement right?

Dang I just looked and one of mine is April 2020. I should have took it back to cycle in a new warranty period :BangHead:

Yeah, but they don't restart the warranty & changing batteries every month is a waste of my time... I expect trouble free, which is what Interstates were when I was selling them...
 
I like the Motorcraft MAX batteries. I have one in the truck.
 
We haven't had any luck out of the motor craft batteries at work..
Through work we have no choice besides the ford stealer or Napa (state govt contract thing) we have less problems with them dying before the warranty is up with the Napa ones by far vs the motor craft max.
Personally I buy from one of the outlets that Johnson controls batteries are sold from.
Another brand that's been junk more than not for me have been the black topped interstate. Those definitely do not last worth a ****.

I have had excellent luck with NAPA batteries. I don't know who makes them, but they are great.
PLUS, if you go to NAPA.com and sign up for their sale Emails, you will get notifications for 25% off anything frequently. 25% off of a good battery is a good deal.
 
last several years I've been upgrading the fleet at home with Super Start AGM batteries from O'Reillys.
Yeah, I know they are not cheap. The one in my 2015 Ram and the '73 Duster have been in there for 5 years now and never had a lick of trouble.
 
I used to buy Interstate batteries and then went on to NAPA Gold batteries when they were a really good product.

Nowadays I only buy daily driver batteries at Walmart for one main reason. I can return them 7 days a week 17 hours a day at most towns with a population over 2500 people anywhere

in America. There is a Supercenter 3 miles from my house and another Supercenter 9 miles from my house.

However I've never had an issue with any of them. Most batteries today only offer a 2-year warranty, and a select few offer 3-years.

Batteries today are just like everything else produced with a reduced life expectancy and a lot less quality. You might as buy one with the easiest place to exchange if away from home.
