When I got the car, it had a junkyard ‘68 318. I am using that same intake manifold (no choke hooked up) and a repro carb. In the box of parts that came with the car, I found a choke - but apparently it is not correct.

Can anyone tell me which one I need and where to get it?

That type of choke should fit into the well in the intake. Does it not fit or does it fit but the linkage doesn't connect to the carb properly? It looks like the linkage has been bent quite a bit. You may need to post the intake number to see what year it came off of.

What I have fits in the well, but the rod length/bend is way off. These are the numbers (and that was after degreaser and pressure washing).

Take 2 pairs of pliers and straighten that choke rod out- it should be long enough then.
With everything cold, it should be just long enough to fit the choke lever with the butterfly closed; maybe just a tad open since you're in Texas. Of the rod is too long, put a slight "V" bend in the rod until it fits. Then fire it up and run it until the engine is hot- the choke should be wide open by then. If not, increase the bend in the rod until it is.
You will need to get a different clip for the end of the rod; that one is a "right hand" clip", you need a "left hand" clip so it will not interfere with the choke lever. Available at any parts store, usually in a little "Handy Pack" of several assorted clips.

Sorry but I'm not finding any 67 and 8 2 barrel intake numbers.

I think that’s the choke for the 4bbl carb. The two barrel choke looks like this.

The above choke is not correct. The correct 68-69 318 choke is part number 2863893, Carter number is 170-944-there is two on Ebay right now, auction number 293987484863 for 47.50 plus 7.50 shipping. There is also a Borg Warner and a Niehoff, both for 74.99. I always try to get the Carter chokes. Buy a new one, you won't be sorry!

A FABO or FBBO member is selling OEM chokes in the for sale section.
