what is the compression hight of OE cast 360 pistons VS silvolite 1273 cast pistons? thank you for your time. RR

Really the best way to tell is to measure
the pistons CD.

Calipers are very reasonable at places like
Harbor Freight and pretty valuable in this
hobby to have a set.

silvolite 1273 1.576 in.
stock 360 was listed in the "how to rebuild your small block" book at 1.59

though i've seen reports of anything from 1.57 to 1.60 because of application (truck v car, year, mfgr. etx)

but my biggest question is why not measure it?

you seemed to do so back in '17

I finally found several of my OE 360 pistons & with a steel scale I got 1.648" & with my HF green calipers I got 1.601". With that much disparity, I will get a more accurate # in a day or two when I get back out there.

Agreed! so I braved the numbing wind chills/blowing snow/howling wolves (& turned off the TV) & went out there again & measureing twice I got 1.1093" and 1.1171" from pin to top then I added in half of the pin (.492") for final readings of 1.601" and 1.609"
