what thermostat housing do i need

Hey all
I have a duel plane edelbrock rpm intake manifold on my magnum engine. The order chrysler housings dont fit and its really hard to find this stuff in Australia
I was told it is the same part as used on the M1 manifold
I was hoping someone might know if it is or may have part number's for me to search. Didn't really want to wait to ship one overseas. Really want to find one here but no one has a listing for it.

According to Rockauto.com Magnum engines use the Gates #C034742 outlet

So you are are looking for the smaller outlet housing. 79 and newer is what you need. Salvage yard should have plenty.

My car came with a chrome piece and it leaks like a sprinkler so I second what Krazykuda is saying. Too bad, because I see these things in almost every car store in my area.
I have mine off right now and found that the mating surface is not flat. I am going to try lapping it on my flat surface to see if I can get it to seal before I buy a new one.

I have had success sealing a chrome housing with the o ring gasket by filing the base flat (which also takes the chrome off), cleaning the intake side of the housing mating surface with emery paper and a sanding block, cleaning the surfaces with break clean, installing an o ring in the groove and using some quality gasket maker. Do not over tighten.

All those posts I see about leaking housings are amusing, because if I couldn't put one together (of any kind) without it leaking I'd give up ever working on anything again and commit myself to an old people home.

I tell people who ask all the time how to do it, but they always insist on fighting it for days. (or way longer)

This is an aftermarket aluminum neck with NO gasket, NO Oring and NO leaks. (EVER)
RTV only.

Not trying to brag or anything, I just don't understand why people won't listen when the results are so obvious.

Today i found one of those black pressed metal necks so i grabbed it as i dont want to waitfor shipping from the US.
I fit it and it leaks badly
I will have to try yo seal it as mentioned above.
Are these the same design as the chrome ones mentioned above? I have since found a billet one today but its $100

Usually the chrome ones are wannabe aluminum, or are aluminum.

Clean any old gasket or anything off both the intake and the water neck.
It doesn't hurt to run a file over the water neck if it's warped a bit or not flat.
If the intake bolt holes go through to coolant, put a little RTV on the bolt threads.

Put a small bead of RTV on the water neck down in the indentation for the thermostat, and set your thermostat in. (press it into the RTV and wipe off any extra if you want)
Put a 1/8 bead of RTV on the water neck about 1/4 inch outside of the thermostat indent, (do NOT smooth it down) and start your bolts without setting the neck down on the intake until the bolts are in there (so it doesn't move around after contacting the intake)

By the time you get it all tightened down, the hose back on and coolant in it and burped you should be able to run it.
I have done it this way for a long time, and never had one leak using any type of neck.

I have an RPM air gap. I have several stock outlets that fit it, but they all leaked. I took some very good advice and bought a chrome outlet with the all important o-ring seal. It has not leaked a drop in almost four years and I have had it off an on several times. O-ring is the only kind I will ever use now.
