What tires are you running on an 8-8.5" rim on a Duster or Demon? 3.5" bs.

Im looking at having an old school look for cruising. Tall side walls and 10-12" wide tires. Ive looked at 275/60s ( ran BFGs before) and 295/50s. The 275 60s are OK, but not wide enough for my liking. 295/50 looks too short height wise...
What wheel / tire combo are you all running?
I have 2 sets of wheels for my Demon. Stock wheel wells, SS springs ( I'll either buy the front hangers to lower the ride or drill mine), 15x8.5 Centerlines for slicks ( down the road), and 15 x 8 torque thrust wheels for cruising.

15x8 with a 3.5” backspace?

Still small bolt pattern? Springs in the stock location? Which axle are you running and is it the factory width?

With that amount of backspace and wanting to run wide tires like that you’ll probably need to keep the ride height pretty high in the back

I'd bet you'll find out that 3.5 bs will really limit how wide a tire you can use. 4.5-5 bs would be a much better fit.
I have a couple pairs of 15x8.5 with 3.5 backspace, and I can't get proper sized tires on them (for the wheel width,)that will fit anything I own. Won't clear the fender.
But I've got 10.5x28 slicks on 15x8.5 centerlines with 4 7/8 bs on my car.

I knew id left some pertinent info on the table.. its worse than asking for a cam recommendation ,lol.
Stock a body housing, stock leaf spring location. Maybe next year, I'll pull the leaf springs into the rails. For now, just get it back on the street. Oh, big bolt pattern already done.

Thank you for the info on your wheel/tire combo. Its definitely helpful!

Yup, I agree with @33IMP. With an A-body 8 3/4 and BBP axles you need more like 4.5” of backspace on a 15x8” if you want to maximize tire size. With SS springs you can get away with more because of the high rear ride height, but if you lower the car any even 275’s on those wheels will be into the quarters.

What is the backspace on the centerlines?
(Original aurodrags at 8.5 were either 4 7/8, or 3 5/16. The deep dish 3 5/16 were hard to fit on anything that didn't have a full open radius wheelwell. Think gen1 camaro/pickup truck)

295/50R15's,15x10- 4.5 backspacing on Torquethrust II's with HD competition leafs in the stock location, I'm running a shortened 9 inch Ford but it's cut to A body stock width specs.
I like them sticking out a bit like they did in the late 70's and early 80's.
The last 2 pics are of a 315/50r15 Mickey Thompson on a 10 inch for reference.
