What to do?

At least you didn't pull the filter off, and forget to put one back on.
LOL, I did that once. Distracted by small childern, chit happens.

Here's how the tab for my Duster's rear worked out. Just food for thought:

Scrap C-Bod rear: $100
Narrowed/tubed/braced $400
Yukon Axles w/bearings and studs: $275
Powertrax locker: $295
3.73 ring and pinion: $175
8 3/4 rebuild kit $40
2 1/2" shoes $28
Can of paint $4

Grand total: $1,317

You can get it just narowed for a little over $100 and probably be OK up to around 600hp with good axels. So the 8 3/4 mod route costs at least grand to do it right. Maybe you find something good used/complete for sale for less, not likely IMHO. Don't forget, that's doing all the work yourself.

What's a new Dana go for these days anyway?

Yeah, that's about what I figured...

Around $1800, iirc.

i'd put a 9 in. ford in it if you race.
it's a better rearend, parts aplenty, nearly bullet proof.
they're the best part ford makes and most serious racers
run them.

i don't like mixing parts either and if your a purist, my ford
suggestion borders on treason.
how ever if winning and not breaking is important, i'd still
consider it.
it's a tried and proven system.
besides that you'd never notice the rear axle with the
front wheels in the air!

i don't know about the cowl induction, but you got to love
a hole in the hood with a blower sticking out. :thumblef:

That's what I'm looking for! Non-breakable rear end and the front wheels a foot in the air! ;-)

I was at a swap meet today, I saw a 9" for sale, with spool, gears, aftermarket axles, but it was already narrowed and was too short for my car.

I'll keep looking.

I won't do cowl induction on my Duster... I like my six pack scoop!

I don't have a blower sticking out of my hood, but I've got a cool blower style air cleaner, looks kinda the same:

i like rammed induction to!
by the looks of your car and the times you've posted
your gonna be hard on any part you use in your car.
good luck this season! :thumblef:
