I thought plastic was good for my dilute phosphoric acid so I put it in a Harbor freight bucket. In a few weeks this is what I found. Glad it was outside.

What to use?

Except for those that will eat through glass. I think Hydrofluoric and sulfuric, but high school Chemistry class was over half a century ago.
I don't think we're talking about those, though.

Batteries used to be made out of glass. I believe that is where the tale of sitting batteries on concrete will discharge them. It was more like break them. Just my opinion.

What did it come in??? It should at least be in HDPE, or a poly lined metal container.
It was in jugs that appeared to be plastic. I poured several jugs in a large storage container and added some water to get some fairly large pieces in. That container eventually leaked and I put what was left in the five gallon bucket. I’ve ordered an HPDE bucket with lid for my next batch. Thanks for the advice. Only a couple of parts left for the car but I’ve been using it for tractor parts too. I really like what it did for my parts but it sure ruined some concrete!

And why would poison be in Coke? Kinda like TSP in cereal….

It's an acid, not a poison.

So is citric acid, which occurs naturally in your body (remember the Krebs Cycle?).

Even actual poisons won't hurt you until you reach an actual dose threshold.
Tylenol is good for your headache, unless you take about 20 at once, then the fact that it is literally a poison becomes important, as it permanently damages the cells of your liver, causing liver failure and death.

It's the concentration that does it. Phosphoric acid is what makes coca-cola sour.
I looked at the difference in all the “zero” soda that’s out. It’s become my favorite, even better than regular pop. You guessed it; more phosphoric acid than regular. And I wonder why I get heartburn. Duh

I suppose the concentration in the bucket was much greater than in the original large tote I had it in. It evaporated down and I moved it to the bucket. Still not as strong as it was in the original containers from the store. It was either evaporust or metal prep brand.
Thanks for all the replies. I think the HPDE that several of you mentioned will do the trick.

Yeah, it’s still toxic at the concentration levels found in coke. And when the levels in your body are too high, you’re “poisoned”….

I use an old 30 gallon blue plastic drum with a large screw top lid been in there for years about 50/50 water quite strong

Chinese bucket, the probably used AI &fl figured out what you were doing with it and made it crack
Yeah, but I got my buckets free when I bought something. It was worth what I paid for it. Had to pay something for a good made in USA one.
