What was your very first car?

-
It was a 70 charger, 318 auto. on the floor ralley red & black top. Shouldve never sold that car. The that bought it had it for a year. He stripped down to the bare shell (paint & all ) then he decided he didn't want it, so he junked it. It was to late to save it by the time I heard a bout it. WHAT A SHAME

Probably around 77-78 or so. I got a green 68 charger 383-auto car for $25 with a bad timing chain. I replaced the chain and sold the car for 300 to get the next... Then got my real first keeper car a 1967 Barracuda convertible 273-auto car with decor package, 881 blue, w/white top and interior. Found it sitting beside someones house and picked it up for 300 with a rod knock 340 engine in it.

1966 Valiant,170 3 speed on the tree.Bought it for 16 dollars.

1957 Ford Custom, 2 door post. inline 6 cylinder, 3 on the three, manual steering, manual drum breaks. The car had only 2 factory options, an AM radio, and a heater (yes, the heater was optional in 1957).

I purchased the car in 1965, it had a little over 65,000 miles on it, and I paid $25.00 for it. in 2 payments (because I wasn't making $25.00 a week at my part time job).
The car ran great, but needed a new clutch. I replaced the clutch, and drove that car daily for 6 years. Three of those years, exclusively, until I purchased a brand new Hemi Roadrunner in 1968.

Still kept the Ford as my daily driver. It was far too economical, and too comfortable to let go of. Not to mention that for a total of 6 years, I drove that car nearly for free. After that I sold it for $300.00. ;)

1966 Valiant, 2 dr sedan, 225 /6 auto, factory a/c. Drove it from Abilene to Wichita Falls(160 miles) once. Used 8 gallons of gas and 12 qt of oil!

1975 Buick Regal !!!!!!!! for 26 years i had it always stored in winters.I sold it had no time for it with other cars . 1970 Charger R/T S/E 440 Auto had both cars at the same time 20 years i had the Charger.

My first car to drive, and subsequently wreck, was a 1969 4dr Chev Impala. Was a good car. Gave it's life so that a 1969 Pontiac Acadian could be resurrected from the dead, and of course wrecked too!

'70 Maverick 200 c.i. auto, white with burgundy plaid interior and vinyl top, and working a/c, paid $900 in '76. My teenage years took it's toll on it, I sold it to a wino then to my surprise years later I recognized it pulling into a convenience store, it still had the Mickey Mouse decal I put on the windshield...a young couple got out, the lady was pregnant, they had fixed the old Maverick up and given it new life.

1957 Pontiac Laurentian (Canadian) 283/220hp Power Pack (4bbl., dual exhaust, higher compression heads). Had a powerglide with aftermarket floor shift. Too bad it was a 4dr.

I had a white 65 Dart 270 post car. It had a Charger 273 and a 3 spped on the column. Only a few of those made.

My first car was a $200 1969 Plymouth Belvedere taxicab (that means it had 4 doors). It had the slant 225 and auto trans, manual steering and brakes, no radio, no seat belts and no AC. The car was painted black and white. It had 225,000 when I bought it and it drove itself to the junkyard at 275,000 with a broken frame. It had a ton of room in it (once carried 12 girls in it to a party).

Some of you guys were really lucky to have had some great cars as your first drivers!

First car I drove when I turned 16 in 1973, a hand me down 64 Dart from my Dad, very similar to the picture attached. My dad bought the car new and it only took my about one year to kill the slant six from Baja'ng around with my friends, sending it to the bone yard.

After I had my last year of college paid for in 1979, I finally bought my first car, a 68 GTO, very similar to the picture attached except the rear wheels were Cragers. My older cousin gave me my first ride in a muscle car, a 66 GTO and set the stage for me having to have a goat. It ran like a raped ape, what a good time it ...

1950 Pontiac Chieftain 4 door. The proverbial "sitting in the farmers field" car, it was offered to me by the farmer as payment for helping him haul hay during the summer of 1976. It had been sitting for several years, but was nearly complete (missing a door, which I found in a lean to shelter on the other side of the ranch). Worked on it most of the summer and drove it out of the field and to the house about 3 months after I started. Learned the ins and outs of the straight 8 and 2 speed Hydro auto trans on that one, and started a thing for working on cars that has lasted for many years now.

Pics have been lost to the ages, but it looked just like this one, same color and everything -

1979 Olds Cutlass Supreme, 350CI auto, brown with white landau roof.
