For various financial reasons, I need to sell my 1965 Dart GT, 2 barrel 273. The car is all factory, engine runs strong, starts up first try every time.

Issues with the car are that the left turn signal isn't working and it needs transmission work. Two weeks ago it's third gear went out.

The speakers in the back are built into their own separate housing from the car, the car wasn't cut at all to put them in.

Wondering what everyone thinks is a fair price for me to put this car on the market for.

I have the same car. Mine was rough, from a towing company and lien sale. I paid $1000 but times have improved in the 3 yrs.

Your chrome looks good, as does dash, and headliner, but hard to judge from photos. Rust is a big deal, and yours is likely pretty rust-free in Fresno, if not too many Sierra winter trips. Your seats are $700 away from nice, since the foam and vinyl covers are $$$$. The body dents mean a full re-paint is needed, and looks like another left fender. I assume the right side isn't chewed up. I got a full tranny rebuild kit for $25 on ebay, but some labor to make it happen.

I would guess it will sell for $2-3.5K, if a clean title. The worth to others depends on their plans. If they will go 360 & BBP wheels, it doesn't matter that your tranny doesn't work. It has more value to someone satisfied with the 273. Of course, if it was a 67-69, it would command a lot more. Early A's are yet to be appreciated, but I think the 65 Dart is the best looking of them.

I hate these threads. You open yourself up to every cynical opinion on the site. Youd be better served to look at comparable sold cars on ebay.

Gonna be tough to get a decent price with a bad transmission. That's just how it is.

It is worth what someone will pay. If you get lucky enough to find a buyer that has fond memories of that style of car you can probably get more money. I have a car that I grew up with that I would be inclined to step up and pay more money if I found one like it.

I'd list it for $2,750 and expect to get about 2k.

Looks like a pretty decent driver condition car with the exception of the transmission issue. If I didn't have a full stable already I'd consider it for around 2k assuming there's no rust issues. Too bad that thing probably has a ball and trunnion in it, I have a functional 904 I could probably part with.

Didn't the '65's lose the ball & trunnion?? Yeah, the tranny could be an issue, but it all depends on what a buyer wants to do with it! Good luck...
ps, I like the '64's best...

1966 was the first year for the slip-yolk trans a-body and also was the first year for linkage operated shift mechanisms instead of cables.

I personally love 65 Dart Gt's, but it was my first car so I'm biased. I wish you the best on selling yours.

You are probably thinking of C-bodies, like my 65 Newport. It has a sliding yoke output, still cable-shift, but no push-buttons. A one year only transmission. A-bodies still had the "ball & trunnion" front "U-joint" (sort of like a CV joint) by "Detroit" until 1966, but not sure about push-button (my 65 Dart is floor shift). Those early transmissions have one neat feature in their rear pump, which allows them to be push-started (30 mph in 2nd).

hey my worped humor: anything over the price of scrap is slaesmanship!!!???????????? if have found that unless you are working on a "collectable" car. tou will be put moe in parts in it than ya will generaly sell it for not counting any labor. quality body, paint and $700 int??? other odds and ends? give $2500 for as is, what would a person have in it done??
we better own and spmd $$ on these cars cause we love them. would be great if we could sell if wanted or needed and not lose $!????

I'm ok with losing money on this car, It's not an issue of that. I'm only here asking so I don't go and list it for way higher than I should, or for much less than it's worth.

If you can turn a wrench you can build a 904. For maybe 200 bucks in parts and some labor, you can increase the value of that car a good bit.

I agree. Starts, runs, stops and clear title will equal a quicker sale at a much better price.
