Hi all. I am now thinking that I will move away from my Cragar SS wheels for now and get a set of 14 inch Rally wheels from Wheel Vintique. My 70 Dart 340 is still a small bolt car and will stay that way for a good while. My current Cragars are 14x6 in the front with 225/60s and 15x7 on the rear with 255/60-15. The fronts have 3.5 inch backspacing ad the rears have 4.25 inch backspacing. No rubbing anywhere and lots of room out back . Quite possible it had a spring relocation. Also, unfortunately, some wheel lip molding was trimmed, but not too bad.
I would like to get 14x6 fronts with 205/70s and 14x7 rears with a slightly larger tire ( maybe as big as 235/60, but could be less). I also like the idea of 15 inch rally wheels in these widths, and am wondering if that helps clearance or hurts the analysis.
I've read gobs of material here and on the various sites, but it tends to create more questions than answers for me. So thought I'd try it this way.....
1. will the WV rallye wheels in 14x6 size and 4 inch backspace clear my front end components.. Car is all stock, including stock disc brakes. Would be running 205/70 BFGs.
2. Will a 14x7 inch WV Rallye wheel work out back with a 4 inch backspace, given what I have today with the Cragars
If I elect to go with 15x6 and 15x7 staggered WV Rally wheels, does the added diameter create new worries for clearance if the 14 inch wheels are workable in these widths?

I know that many of you run these various sizes, or have in the past, so th knowledge is very valuable. In the end, I am not against stepping to 14x6 all around and 205/70 tires. Basically the "as new look". Thanks for your input. Want to get it right when the money starts trading hands.

I run 14 x 6 Wheel Vintiques with 205/70s on the front, 15 x 7 Wheel Vintiques on the back with 245/60s. fronts are fine, rears are tight to the leafs but clear. No problems

Thanks. I assume they are 4 inch backspace as well? I think that is WV's standard for those wheels. Steve

Also, on the front I bought some tall tires for the stock 14” wheels in the 70’s and that didn’t fit. I got a body shop the redo the fenders to make room.

My '71 Dart GT:

up front I have 14" X 5 1/2" factory small bolt Rallye wheels (3 3/4" back space (if I remember correctly)) with 195/75R14 tires. I added SSBC front disc brakes which widened the front track by 3/8" on each side

out back I have 15" X 7" WheelVintiques small bolt Rallye wheels (4 1/4" back space) with 245/60R15 tires (with room for 255/60R15s (next time)). It has the factory installed 741 case, 3.55:1 sure-grip, 8 3/4" rear end with ManciniRacing 2800 lb springs in the factory location

no clearance issues!

15x7 rallyes with small bolt pattern will have 4.25 backspace

You can run those up front with 225/60/15 tires. That’s a much easier tire to find and bigger selection than 14”.

I'm tellin you what's a dingle dangied fact. If you're even halfway thinking about getting anything from Wheel Vintiques in the 5x4 bolt pattern, you better do it NOW, because they are not going to be getting any more. They told me a while back when they are gone, they are GONE.

Rereading this post, I didn’t clearly state that too tall a tire will hit the fender. I had that problem even with a 14” tire.

I had a quick look for dealer stock on 14x7s a month ago and couldn't find any.

Nobody has them, or I would.
So it seems. Never makes sense. If there’s demand, the cost is minimal ( already have stamping, etc) so why not punch out some rims? After all, they live to support the collector car hobby. I’ll source some factory rallyes. Not easy, but they’re at least available. Thanks for all the comments.

Biggest reason is because Wheel Vintiques is not a maker of anything. They are a vendor. The wheels come from overseas. Remember a few years ago when all the container ships were backed up off the west coast? That was when I called Wheel Vintiques and they said there were going to be no more 5x4 bolt pattern of anything made. That was the beginning of it. The wheels have been slowly dwindling out of stock ever since. Unless someone picks up the mantle, they're done.

An option. Located just miles from Classic Industries as well. Perhaps their new wheel supplier if WV is abandoning these sizes. Thanks!
