windsheild trim for a 67 barracuda fastback.its my understanding that 67 had glue in trim ,not clip in.there are no provisions for clips around the area so that makes sense.does anyone repop this item?

Lets clarify what you're after. the 67 model Barrucauda had a chrome look lock cord in both front and rear window gaskets like a lot of trucks had. The tooling for stainless trim was done during first year and appeared on 68, 69 models front and rear. To upgrade to stainless trim on a 67 requires installing molding clips and using the correct self locking gasket. The 67 gasket can be used but the stainless doesn't fit correct over it and a wind whistle can result.

Most often than not guys just retrofit the `68 + up clips and install `68 + up moldings. The original windshield trim for `67 is a plastic molding that snaps into the windshield gasket. Then there's a special corner clip that helps hold it all in.....

`68 Windshield moldings go for *about* $100.... clips are another $35 or so and you have to drill holes to install them. Your call.

One other problem with the '67 windshield trim. After you replace it with new and everything looks good, it will shrink enough to start leaking in about 6 months. I can show you a '67 Valiant and a '67 Barracuda that did this when new. The dealer gave up trying to get the windshield to seal and me and dad drilled 3/8" holes in the floor to let the water out. Go with the stainless trim if you value your floor pans.

This has happened to a friend of mine, He told the man he would buy it from him if he would get a new wind shield and seal put in the car,
Sure enough the two top corners started poking out as it shrunk the same year. Looked good for a short while8)

There is gonna be a few rare cases like that but it doesn't represent all.
I've owned 3 67 models that didn't leak, front or rear. You are discussing a seal design that has been used of years (before 67) on all brands of cars and trucks.

this is on a race car it does not get rained on,all i want is the 67 trim,its for looks.just to clairify,if your seal is good how could the trim make it leak?

On the 67 model the trim is the seal since it is a locking cord inserted into the gasket. Only real stainless trim there is some small corners that cover where the locking trim / cord cant turn a corner.

My 67 Dart has been driving me crazy with that damn whistle. See pics. Now I know what I need to do. Yank the windshield and re-install with 68-69 weatherstriping and 68-69 SS trim. I have connections to a yard in Pueblo, CO. that has SS trim for these years and I need to make a run down there. Who needs some? I'll check it out and let you guys know what they have.

Where is your corner pieces?

Yes it will shrink, but it will take more than a year unless it sits outside.

I bought the trim for my 67 Dart from Stephens Performance.

I changed the trim on my 67 Barracuda in 1974 and by the end of 75 it had come out of the corner pieces. Don't know if I trimmed it too much or they were just junk.

IF you are not going for original look I would switch to the 68~69 trim

There are a few little tips and tricks I'll share here though.
Number 1 The most important thing is NEVER buy an incomplete set of rear window stainless for a 68/69 notchback or fastback. I've got the 2 large 'L' shaped pieces for the notchback and here I am 14 years later still hunting the 2 short nearly straight pieces for the bottom. and sold seperately
Number 2 The front window stainless and gaskets for A-body are all the same from 68 thru 76 excluding Duster, Dart Sport, and 4 door cars.
Number 3 The 4 door windshield is the same width but the height is approx. 2 inches taller than 2 door. You can simply cut 2 inches from the A pillar pieces of trim but cutting 2 inches from that gasket so it fits a 2 door is not a good plan.
Now back to the 67 plstic trim and stainless pieces. Along with the lil stainless corner piece is a short straight cap piece covering where 2 ends butt together. If you buy a repoped chrome like plastic insert it will come as a long coil (cut to fit). Fill the long upper and lower runs with 1 continuous piece and put that lil stainless cap in the glovebox. Sometime later when the insert has shrunk/shrank until it no longer reaches under the corner caps... this is the time to cut it in the center and push both pieces left and right leaving a gap top center. Get that piece from the glovebox and cover the gap.
