I have a '71 Scamp with a 318 and 904. The rear is an 7.25. The current driveshaft is to short. Does anyone know the length or an application that would work? The rear will be swapped soon to an 8.25.

I am guessing a '74/6 Dart with a 318/904/8.25 would obviously work- but there isn't any of them around here!

The shaft is shorter with a 8 1/4 then it is on a 7 1/4.

Carolina Wrecking Company High-Point NC 1-336-889-9995 shows to have the correct shaft for your car for $50.00 but you would need a measurement to verify it.

I JUSt researched this,,,put the yoke in the tranny, slide it out till the center ff the u joint cap is 3 1/2 inches from the rear of the tailshaft housing, then measure from the center of the front cap to the center of the rear cap.

It should be about 54 1/8" long.....center to center on the u-joints.

Wow..weird. I have a 318/904 combo with a drive shaft to long..for a 71/4 rear end. If yours is to short and your swaping the 71/4 to 81/4 it might just work...Im no expert but it what i understand from the knowledge here.............JM2CW

Yea..what car do you have??

I swapped a '69 B'cuda for a '71 Scamp and found out there was a difference in wheelbases between the two. Had no idea really!

67 Dart 2 door. Took the drive shaft out of a 67 dart 4 door. It had a 71/4 rear end. I thought my 2 door had the same...Nope i was wrong. It has a 81/4. Drive shaft is now to long.
