Is this a NHRA or IHRA Stocker?

Thats what I'm thinking Mike. I think. Cheater cam. Thats a duration @ .050?

That class requires some serious low lift work on the heads and valve area. No porting allowed. Must run stock valve size.
I don't know a whole lot about the class. I read up on it once. They do a hell of a job considering there limits, it's actually extraordanary. (sp?)

Yea, it's a stock eliminator car or at least the setup is. If the car is yellow I have seen it run because I race at the same track. It has event stickers on it from way back on the windows, it is cool to think how many 1/4 mile passes that car has made if it is the one I am thinking of.

Wow some great running cars on here. My 63 is a basic street car that I drive to the track a few times a a year. I have only ran the 1/4 once and that was on a hot dat in early Sept. Ran a best of 11.66 @ 114.65 but I have not done any tuning yet and I think it has easy 11.50's in better air. Here is the combo:

Stock body 1963 Sport Fury
.030 over 440 with KB slugs
Stock bottom end crank and rods
10.0 comp with iron 906 heads I ported
MP .557 cam on a 104 centerline
Comp dual valve springs
Holley Street Dominator intake with 850 DP
Mallory dist with MP orange ecu with 38 total timing
Hedman 1-3/4 headers and 3" exh with Ultra Flow mufflers
727 with Dynamic 9.5 convertor
TA reverse manual v/b
8-3/4 with 4.30's and 29 x 11.5 Hoosier QTP tires
Stock 40 year old leaf springs with air shocks
All stock body with a 6 point roolbar I installed
Car weighs right about 3700 with me and the rollbar
Its a driver street car I drive everywhere and also drive to the track

Hoping to tune at least 11.40's over the next year or two. Best et 11.66 @ 114 with a best ever 60 of 1.58.

Hey 383man

Love your car. I too have a 63 and it's mt street car that I drive to the track occasionally. I ran 11.80's with ppretty close to your combination but your 60' kill me. We are going to try advancing the cam and and maybe bumbing up the timming to see if will get any better. Here's my combo:
1963 Belvedere
3650 lbs. no cage just fram ties
440 stock bottom end with good rod bolts and studded
Old TRW slugs 10.5 comp.
.509 MP hydraulic purple shaft
Eddy heads ported
Eddy Performer RPM with Holley 850 dp
MP Dist. with light springs and MSD 6AL
11.80's at 114 with high 1.7's 60ft with ET streets

Man. I love that banana! Nice, nice ride.

You'll notice, that most of these mid 11 sec. cars run a roller cam. I would not build another car, for performance, and NOT use a roller. That is the key for performance. IMO.

Thanks 63Belvedere as I also love your car. I never realized how good a 63 looks in yellow and yours looks awesome ! Are you the guy from Canada that has your car on the 62-65 website becuse if you are I was drooling all over it when I saw it on that cool site ? I would love to race at the same track as you one day because our cars together would look so cool. Here is a pic from the last time I was at the track. Ron

Thanks guys
Don't come to this sight much anymore because I sold my nice 71 Duster with a 360 crate motor to buy this 63 about 2 years ago. The 63 belonged to a buddy of mine for 17 years and he just wanted a change and I told him if he ever sold it to give me first crack at it as I too love early B bodies. I have done a fair bit of work to it in the time I have owned it. Including the new 440 this summer after the 413 decided to split wide open down both sides :angry4:. Yah that is my car on the 62-65 site. A buddy of mine put it on there for a surprise for me:iconbigg:
Yah would be real cool to line up beside you Ron. Old school baby!!!
Here's a shot of my last time out as well. As I said before, going to try and improve on the 60' with advancing the cam, bumping up the timing and a few suspesion tricks with the springs. So I think there is definately more in it with running 114 to 116 mph.

well im curious as to wut u guys think i would run now ..i have never run my car but i have 71 dart swinger with the following

Well, humm...... thats a no traction car with a to low ratio making 360ish HP in @ about 3600 lbs...hummm, big carb, single plane...lacking torque, lowish stall...hummmm...14.4 - 13.9
Alot depends on track conditions, suspension mods or not, state of tune etc...

When you run it, let us know!

i was thinking of swithcing to a dual plane intake and getting a deomn 650 would that increase my time also timing as of right now is somewere around 14 deg advance and like 28 deg adv at 2800 rpm and i cut the weight of my car dramaticly it weighs 3100 with me in it no back seet and a smaller fuel sell and so on so on
