Why is it ? Selective moderating

I haven't posted much here lately so I don't know what people are use to , but I don't see where that matters.
I sell a lot of misc. stuff on ebay and I sometimes get questions on stuff from people that have no intention of buying it . I gotta dig through my inventory ,sometimes send a pic and I get a response something like " My uncle had one of them " I don't want to chit-chat, but if a person is interested I don't mind answering their question. Of course that is only seen by me and the other person.

I haven't participated in the For Sale ads here, but I would if I was interested in a part. If not, I wouldn't give my opinion and if I had any information that I thought would be helpful to the seller I would send them a PM and they could do with that information what they wished or they could ignore it if it would have no importance to them in selling their item. If you post your concern on the open forum it may look like they are ignoring you if they don't answer.

If you have no interest in buying the item don't ask any questions or make any comments on the forum. If I am following this correctly it seems there is a problem of people cluttering up For Sale posts and all you have to do is ask yourself what you can do or avoid doing to help solve the problem. Seems pretty simple to me.

You should have said that in your first reply. And it brings up another question I will have for the administration. Why are moderators enforcing rules they can’t explain?
I tried to explain it. Your not satisfied with my answer. . How do you come to the conclusion mods can't explain the rules.
Again if you don't like the answers go to the top.YOU should have done that in the first place.
Best of luck in your search for the answers you want to hear.

That`s the other side of the coin.
A scenario... FNG joins the site just to flip his parts, maybe a scammer, ignores the PMs ignorant people get burned. :(

You should have protection through the source of your funds, just the same as you do when buying anything online. If you aren't familiar with the seller you may take extra precautions, but you can protect yourself .

paypal isn't going to refund your money because you don't know the nuanced difference between something like brake parts.

yes, the seller is [probably] a bad actor, but if you bought blindly w/o knowing what you were plunking down for then that's a YP amigo.

If you have any concerns take it up with the seller before you buy. If you want a different pic or want to talk to them in person ask for their number . Keep a copy of communication blah, blah, blah. If you aren't comfortable don't buy till you are and if not don't buy.

You're welcome anytime. If you need an address or phone number just ask. :)
Back on point I think this forum as well as many others do certain things to deter spammers. Anything they don't volunteer in those regards I don't want to know . If I (we ) know ,the spammers would aslo know.
It is up to me to make myself feel comfortable if I purchase something. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from someone that's been on here for a period of time. I may hesitate to purchase from a new member, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't purchase from them.

I think we all need to ask ourselves how hard the moderators work for this site? I think they do a very good job. Like @toolmanmike said, he can't look at EVERY single posting. They work way harder than I would on this site. I am grateful for the time they do spend and for the overall quality of this forum. The only problem I have is that there are a few mean, rude people here, but that is what the ignore function is for.

Yeah it ain't like anybody gets paid around here.

You didn’t explain anything and neither did Mike, I came to the conclusion that would be the result very early on in this conversation. Remember when I said “typical response from an authority when they are enforcing a rule/law they don’t know why they are enforcing”? You skated around playing word games then admitted you didn’t have a sufficient answer. You should have been done commenting when you said you were done commenting. Now you’re answering emotionally and all that does is diminish your credibility as a moderator. Please just stop and let me take it up with administration like you suggested.

It isn't "Selective Moderating" ---

One simple explanation..... We get over 1000 posts a day on this site alone. It would be impossible for our mods to review each and every post. Most of the time, we get a report from another member to alert us to something to look at. So it is only selective by what we see.

Another example. One specific to you... In one post you told a FS poster he needed to include photos in his ad. One of our mods came along, and told the poster directly and deleted your post only to eliminate replication and confusion.

Nothing nefarious - nothing personal -- nothing "selective" ---- So how about we stop the charade. I'm pretty sure you're smart enough to know all this on your own.

thread closed.

They don't even tell me, I check back later and "poof" things I KNOW that I posted, gone for no reason micromanaging, selective moderation, I know all about those and it aggravates the hell out of me
You ain't the only one that can get aggravated......
