Hi Guys:
My 72 Scamp has a map light located under the dash on the right side. (Chrysler calls it a map light, but it really functions more as a courtesy light, illuminating the floor area on the right side of the car.) I have a second map light I pulled out of a junkyard wreck a few years ago that I would like to install on the left side -- there is even a screwhole located in the driver's side spot that corresponds to the location of the passenger side "map light" although I don't think any A bodies actually had one installed on the left. The unit has three wires coming out of it -- a tan one, a light pink one, and a dark pink one.
My question is this: to hook this up, would I simply run wires across the underside of the dash and splice them into the corresponding wires coming from the existing "map light" on the right side? That seems logical enough, but I've screwed up enough simple automotive electrical tasks that I thought I should do myself the favor of running this by those of you who have a higher success rate with this sort of thing -- in other words, probably just about all of you. ;)
Any insights appreciated.
Thanks,
