So I must simply have a beefy aluminum pistol grip handled automatic shifter.. And I have one. I have the Hurst Pistol Grip Quarter Stick. It looks amazing but I cannot warm up the the gated design. I like a ratcheting mechanism. B&Ms offering does not have the look I like. However, this company out of Australia has a shifter I like. Full ratcheting and a look I like (Love). But the gear indication is for RH drive. I did not see a LH indicator plate on their site for this specific unit- but I emailed them inquiring. Any comments, opinions?

Looks like they are based in Australia, but I don't see why you can't get a local company to 3d print one for you. Yes it might be a few $ but if you really want it.

I did email asking about a LH drive plate but this pisitol grip shifter is not centered . The unit they do offer a LH drive plate for is dead centered in its console. I shall wait for their reply.

i don't see why that's a problem.
do you use the shift indicator much? unless you sit exceedingly low in the car you should be able to see it from either side.
if you head is level with the dash-pad the stick will be in the way of the display.
i'm assuming your head will be higher than that... seeing out the big front window of a car is important... :)
you'll be looking down from above so seeing the indicator when necessary should be possible.

its also cable shift so you could if you wanted, move it over a little towards the wide side of the car.

I guess it depends what tunnel clutter you already have in the way.

They do do the metal grip as separate item... that might be the start of a custom job.

The B&M Pro Ratchet doesn't do it for me. I like the beefy almost hand gun type handle of the Hurst and the Aeroflow shifter. It's all good. I'll install and use my Hurst Pistol Grip Quarter Stick and I'm sure it will grow on me
Did you look at the shifter in the link?

Mine, with homemade pistol grips, custom for seating position. Straight-up one has a button for a transbrake.

Yes I have been aware of that B&M shifter for quite some time. I'm sure it functions well but the look does not appeal to me.
You could pretty easily have someone laser or even band saw and polish a several layer thick handle for the b&m couldn't you? I have replaced the handle on the B&M shifters with the trans brake handle, and all it is, is several layers of .250 ish aluminum with some machine screws tapped and holding it all together.

Very good suggestions and presentations. Thanks fellas. The gears in my mind are turning. I'm not a Hurst Fan Boy but their handle is what I really like and will explore mounting it to the ratcheting shifter .

I really love the operation of the B&M pro ratchets. I have removed and given away every other brand shifter i have ever installed. my point (and you may already get it) is the B&M handles are just layered aluminum. you could cut out any shape you want, and layer them, and make it as big/fat as you want. the B&M's just use the center stub, and layer 3-5 layers for desired shape/thickness.
