I'm looking for a good used running rebuilt 318 or 360 LA engine. I would prefer one that doesn't smoke and has good compression & oil pressure. On the 318 I would prefer one that has at least 9:0:1 compression. I would need proof the piston in regards to the 318 subject. Can be a rebuilt one as long as you provide receipts of the rebuild or a video of the engine running. I would spend up to 1400 on the right one. Let me know if you have anything by sending me a PM. Thank you.

You say you will spend 1400 on one like that's a holy grail price. Most people will have that in machine work alone on a reguilt engine. Good luck.

I have a good core engine that I can re-ring, take a cut off the heads and deck (and supply you with adjustable rockers so it all meshes back together) for that price. You'll have to travel to Nashville to pick it up, but I could have it ready to go by the weekend.

I am looking more for a fresher engine that has a few Or several thousand miles. Nothing really exotic here. I would be happy with near stock 360. I found a nice running 360 for $1500 but with my schedule that won't be happening anytime. 68383gts has a 318 but work schedules conflict there plus he is 4 hrs away. I only requested a higher compression 318 because it will be equal to a lower compression 360 with a mild cam. So understand I am looking for a good running engine with some proof of what is claimed behind them. Plus it is hard with having a wife makes it hard.

Thank you for the offer but Nashville is too far of a drive.

You can probably find a running, driving M body (5th Ave, Dip, GranFury) for your $1400.
After 87-ish, they should have roller cam, 9:1, 302 head 318s.

The car will also have good disk brake conversion parts, and a few other goodies.
Cruise control, power window motors, 6 way seat track, A/C parts, drive shaft, fasteners, etc
After parting, you can get about 20-30% of your money back in scrap.

Yeah but, the wife wouldn't care too much about that. She wasn't too thrilled about the 5.9 Magnum I bought for the 79 LRE I used own. Paid $600 for the engine and it had good heads, new gaskets, rings, and bearing, and new oil pump. Put a few thousand on it before we traded the truck for the car. Ran great, for a stock engine with manifolds. Could go 5.9 Magnum on this but, don't want to run an electric pump and finding a flexplate to run with a 904 is hard since B&M discontinued it years ago plus I'm novice wrencher so to speak. I'll keep looking. Oh well, at least I remind my wife twice a year at least about how she should of let me buy that 71 GTX clone. Guess, I'll wait to spring to see if anything pops up for a reasonable price.

Back to the top. Also want to add that pre-68 318 will not work from what I have read thus far I have a 68 904.
