I have the same headers* on my car, 68 cuda. I've had them since 1990 or so. The starter is a bit of work to get in and out....but at some point I switched to a mini starter and it's no big deal now. In 2020, there is simply no reason to use an original type starter.

Is the passenger side header and torsion bar adding to your starter R&R issues?
Lol, If these are TTI 2" long tubes, other than the torsion bars, their install instructions make it sound like a cake walk...........

Hmmm..... Did they forget to "remove the dipstick tube" and "re-install and adjust torsion bars" on A-bodies steps or am I missing it?

Change the bolts, I had issues with the one I bought.
Also their other front end tools work great, the lower control arm pivot remover tool is slick.
got my starter and master cylinder from Summit today. they are very good at getting stuff out quickly!!
if you guys have never seen a mini starter before (i know i hadn't) - here's some pics. this starter fits easily on an 8" x 12" standard sheet of paper and is ever a little smaller than a standard mopar master cylinder. it is not very heavy either - maybe 5 lbs? pretty amazing technology given what an the original OEM 1969 Plymouth starter looks and feels like!

Now, then....make note that in most cases there is some interference between the block and the battery posts. Due to some unknown reasons, there will be lots of smoke and some sparks if those two come in contact with each other.
There are various ways to solve this, but here is one. I've not used this part but it looks OK.

yep, never had any cause to buy a mini starter for one of my mopars before now. and as to the "moon landing", i actually watched that event "live as it took place" on July 20, 1969. i took pictures of the landing with an "instant picture" "Polaroid Land Camera" as it played on our color TV set sitting in our living room on that day. my "almost new" 1968 Turbine Bronze, 340 4 speed Barracuda Fastback Formula S was sitting in my driveway at the time.

i looked at the starter i just purchased and it is exactly like the one pictured in the Ebay ad. and it is very clear why it would be a good idea to put this attachment on this starter before installation. i just purchased this off of Ebay. this part was only $18.00 and well worth buying! i would not have known about this part had you not suggested it. again, thanks.

Hi everyone.
I have a 68 Barracuda with a 340 in it and am looking to replace the exhaust manifold. I was looking into headers but after reading a couple of the threads here I’m not sure it’s a good idea? Yes? No?
If so, what are the best headers for a 68? Some that will fit without much modifying and won’t break the bank.

i have a Barracuda with a 340 and there is probably 2" additional room between both exhaust manifolds and the shock towers/fender wells with a small block versus a big block. there are several headers still produced for the 340, hooker, hedman, TTI. i'm pretty sure Summit lists under chassis headers for a 340 on their website and i think Jegs does also. you might also convert to a mini-starter for your 340. the difference between the Mopar OEM starter and a mini is like comparing a 1/2 gallon milk carton to a quart milk carton. i think the cheapest new 340 headers i've seen are around $350-$500 dollars.

I've never liked loud exhaust. I look at it as a necessary evil, in some cases.
I'm more impressed with a quiet exhaust that works well. I had a Lexus LS460L....stone-*** quiet and it would rev freely to way past 6000RPM. That tell you someone had their act together in the exhaust department.
I used to drive my cuda with 3" exhaust to the races, race it, then drive back, 100 mile round trip.....I'd get home and my head would be ringing even the next day. At the time I kinda thought it made me a Warrior/Badass/Bad Dude but now I look back and have to admit it didn't do anything but make my head ring.
As for bad *** dudes....let me give you an idea of what I consider a bad *** dude, as pictured below. Note that he lacks any tats, piercings, beards, alcoholic beverages, and might even be wearing a dress. But trust me, boys, he's a bad as **** of the highest order.

Actually ..engines run cooler with headers, faster heat dissipation from the tubes, more efficient overall..
Sometimes you have some really out there thoughts or ideas that you might wanna rethink over before executing them. I'm not intending to be a prik..but you influencing anothers decisions with fallacy is fk up.

The mini starter I grabbed from a truck for 25 bucks 18 yrs ago has an extension for the terminals to outward. No sparks.

Headers are always a challenge, some more than others.
Hedmans on my 390 FE F100, 90 minutes start to finish.
Hookers on my '72 Swinger 10 hours, not including getting the broken exhaust stud under the brake booster out
.Unless your name is Mike and want Hookers for your '66 340 Dart GT in about 1973.
He called Hooker looking for some.
"Can we keep the car for a week?" they asked.
