This guy came scurrying out from under my work bench last weekend. Freaked me right out. Shortly after I took this picture I blasted him with carb cleaner and he ran off.

Don't know what he is but I'd damn sure step on him and hope he doesn't have any family hiding out there. I hate spiders!!!!
 
That is Oscar!! I guess he left Oklahoma when my daughter was here from Colorado because he was damn tired of 105 to 108 degree temperatures. He had to find another FABO member and when he was on my shoulder while I was posting on your post he must have picked YOU.
 
I don't know what it is, but if it just ran off instead of dying when sprayed with carb cleaner, sell the house.

I wondering if I brought him home from my trip to Wisconsin but he doesn't look like your average Wolf spider.

Excellent point but I still wouldn't want to reach under my bench for something and have it sink it's fangs in me. Or have it or one it's siblings bite one of my dogs. I have a few jumping spiders and funnel spiders around. I generally don't kill them, but this thing is just weird. I've never seen one in Colorado before.

I can't imagine it's a web weaver, too big and heavy. It must be some kind of Hunter/Killer type spider.
 
Sounds like the carb cleaner just pissed him off, I wouldnt take any chances---- send me all your parts and tools and torch that garage...
 
Yikes......that thing is FUGLY

We have alot of spiders here, but that one doesn't look like anything I've seen before. It's hard to tell in the pic.....how big is it (dime, quarter) ?

It was in the garage thank God. I don't know if it ran off to die or is plotting revenge.

It does. Very odd to see one so far north but we've had a cricket explosion with all the wet weather. Now I feel bad. Maybe I should've caught him and fed him crickets. :read2: He was coming right for me and froze when I turned to look at him.

That's a cigarette ash in the upper left and the hairs are off Maxi (about 3"-4" long). It's a pretty good sized beast. I've never seen a spider who's eye's glow... I didn't use a flash because I didn't want to spook him so I had to lighten up the photo quite a bit.
 
Sleep with one eye open, it very well might try to hunt you down.....
 
WOW!!!! SCARY!!!! I HATE spiders!!!! Your comment about it plotting revenge made me laugh. Too funny!!! Be CAREFUL!!!
 
Joe, at our shop in Golden the wolf spiders would creep or is it run into the shop. The bodies at least as big as a quarter. They never walked out if I saw them! I hate them. When I was living in Westminster I used to get black widows all the time in the garage, let me tell you, brake cleaner or paint usually kills most spiders I attempt to kill however, it doesn't touch or bother the widows and believe me I have tried it on quite a few. There is only one way and that is to squish them with something, you know they are dead then!!!!
