I have never run a TQ tried to get it on the car today and found that it comes no where close to matching up with the edelbrock 750 stuff. I was told I need the thermoquad specific kickdown linkage(s) to get it running...Unfoturnately knowing NOTHING about TQ's or even remotely what the linkage consists of or looks like so im at a loss...I need HELP so I can quit ](*,) trying to get this carb on and set up and get this Eddie 750 OFF! Guy at the shop said the Demon Sizzler TQ was a great deal $$ wise! he just said he could not hook it up because the linkage is just not the same/needed. And place make and or have this piece/part(s) I hesitate to go junk yarding for it as I have no idea what im looking for...I know the car came with a TQ ON it(it sits in the shed) but no linkage was with it(pretty much looks like what I got from Demon Sizzler just a smogger model that came off it when the eddie went on)

I dont even know what this linkage consists of...brackets,cables,just 1 small piece or several larger parts..kinda pulling my hair out right now because i just dont know what I need, what it looks like, or where to find it so the carb is just sitting...on the plus note the Dart Sport is inspected now lol.

Oh btw its a 727/340 engine if that matters

Or it may just be a pin or something I need...geesh I really dont know im at a loss...

Does anyone have a picture(close up) of what a hooked up TQ looks like(linkage side) so I could see what im possibly missing?

this is what I have now and what it looks like...supposedly I need something else added on..I just dont know.

apparently it needs some other part, pin bracket to hook it up right ..???

You need the pin that bolts in the large hole.

any idea where to get it lol?? and is it just a pin or another bracket with a pin in it?? And thats all i need no spring or return brackets or anything else..this is just getting frustrating lol. now I find a line of either tranny fluid or power steering fluid(light red color) in the driveway...and see the front hose is wet near where the tranny lines go into the radiator :( . Man this is getting OLD lol.

What linkages do you have on the car? Do you have the throttle pressure rod going down the the trans? Are there brackets bolted to the intake front and rear?

Post a pic of what you have.

....................Take that pin out of ur e brock linkage......after all u must of took it out if its missing from ur old TQ..........all ur kd linkage will work....yes u need all the springs....kim...........

Here's another shot. You should have just about everything you need on the car, and kimmer's right, I didn't think about it, you should have the piece on the ebrock that SS posted with the pin in it. You won't need the brass piece for the TQ.

Edit: guess it was not as dark as I thought so here is what I have..

I am still stuck thinking all thermoquads are like the two I have now.......the chebbie phord apps. lol They require the Edelbrock piece I liked to earlier. Yours does not. Sorry. My bad. You should just be able to swap the pin and go. ....unless I'm missin sumffin. ......which is entirely possible.lol

I dont know...thats why im a bit frustrated right now...I dont know I know ANYTHING about them...so I dont know what to tell them or how to do it myself lol..I didnt know if it was just the pin was needed or a pin and a bracket or something I just dont know...

Unscrew the stud off your Eddy, where all the throttle linkage is attached to it. Then screw the same stud back of the TQ, adjust all the linkage, add return springs and go.

If I can join in on this thread, where can that long pin be purchased?

You are good to go with what you have. Pull the linkage bolt out of that carb and put it on the TQ. Look at my pic that I posted and you can hook it up just like that. Throttle return spring on the inside and the throttle pressure rod spring from the tab to the post. Done.

It does look to me that you will want new springs.

lol yeah id like new springs :) any idea what to get and where to get them??

NAPA usually has a good selection. They have variety packs as well. I run a double spring for my throttle return, one inside the other. You won't want real heavy springs as it will be hard to push on the pedal. I would also suggest a thick gasket under the carb, mines about a 1/4".

Make sure that the spring you get for the throttle pressure rod isn't too long as you want that rod pulled forward to the pin.

Thanks Tony!
Good info here for me.

Let me know if you need a different pic, I can get one for you a little later. This should be a fairly straight forward swap so you can do it yourself with minimal tools. Good way to learn.

Just to rehash you basically have the same side linkage I do no other brackets or anything yours just has that stud/screw through the big hole? Thats what it looks like to me also..the thing I always seem to FAIl on with AT's(and why I like manual valve bodies and 4 speeds) is the linkage set points for the shifts...ive set them up B4 or TRIED and have not got one to work right yet...even when I try to do exactly what I should be doing I still end up messing it up and NOT having it shift into 3rd or the shifts are too soon or too late....and then when I try to get it set "right" it seems to eiter get worse or do nothing lol..the only "succesful" carb and or carb and intake swap ive done was on my 1970 4 speed 383 RoadRunner.....thats just a hook up attach accelerator/throttle cable and go..no ridiculous linkages to screw stuff up lol.

Look at my 2 picture post and the close up of the linkage and give me one like that to reference...one like the guy circled the pin in from a similar angle and closeness.

Also can you give me a pic(or description) of where you routed the hoses/lines that come out of it..I know the front bigger middle one goes to the PCV I really dont know where the rest go to.or if i can just block them off..I wont have to tap my manifold for anything will I? as im using the Edelbrock performer(NOT RPM) not a stock one...i just dont know lol.

Is there a port in one of the runners to put a nipple in for your brake booster? If so you may have that in your old intake. Just use some teflon tape or sealant to eliminate vacuum leaks and hook your booster line there.

There should be a timed port on the driver side front of the carb for your vacuum advance. Also a port in the front center for your PCV.

Here is a couple more pics of how mine is hooked up.

As far as adjusting the throttle pressure linkage, go under the car and move the pressure linkage forward and zip tie it or wire it there to hold it forward. Go up top and adjust your rod so it will slide over the pin with about a 16th of an inch play between the pin and the rear of the slot. Your linkage looks to be threaded so you can adjust it accordingly. Make sure the throttle on the carb is at rest on the idle circuit. Now that you have it on there and adjusted accordingly take it for a spin, you may need to do some fine tuning on the rod to get your shift points where you want them, very simple to do with the threaded rod.

DON'T FORGET TO REMOVE THE ZIP TIE OR WIRE YOU USED TO HOLD THE LINKAGE FORWARD.

Hope this helps.

how about the hoses like I said I know the bigger middle one goes to PVC valve where do the rest go...will i need to plug anything off? and pics of those?

PCV to large port center front. Vacuum advance to timed port, it will be the one on the front on the driver side of the carb. If you can install a nipple in your intake for your brake booster that would be the way to go.

All other ports if there are any can be plugged/capped.
