Spending less time on FABO

-
Alot of times you may not agree with people say. Yes, everyone has there
own opinion. You are intitled to that. But don't go down grading someone if
you don't agree.
I have seen some things on here that I don't understand why someone
would want to do that. But I won't tell them that they can't do that. It's
there car. Let tham do it. If it dosn't work and they come back for help.
Give them the help. Don't condem them.
We are here to help one another. Keep your petty differances to yourself
and do whats right.
The few people that are doing this. You know who you are! Please stop.
Don't ruin it for the rest of us. I like this place.
If you don't like what I have said here. PLEASE let me know with a pm.
Don't go running your mouth off and ruining the board.
If you have a problem with a person. Take it to a pm. DON'T ruin the board.

Now that's just my 2 cents worth.
Thank you and have a nice day.
Don't be a ********.

Here's my two cents -

I can be negative on occasion. More than I would like, honestly. Anyway, my knee-jerk reaction is to sometimes post a wise-*** comment if I think somebody is doing something contrary to the way I would. But lately, I stop myself and think "Is this constructive? Will it add to the discussion?" If the answer is no, I don't post. I've gone so far as to type a somewhat long-winded reply only to cancel it instead of posting it because I thought it was too negative.

All it takes is a pause to think about what you're saying before posting.

Like I said, my two cents.

I don't think my comment in regards to that thread was directed at you......if you feel it was so be it.....I think the reason "those kinds" of threads turn into an instant train wreck is just because people can not keep there mouths shut, hence the Postal Courage. I seem to remember some one raising hell in the LS thread about people slamming Mopar. Can't help but wonder why does it matter what any one thinks? Read there comment, and if you do not have anything to contribute, other than to slam someone just MOVE on. Is it that difficult? Why get so fired up over it, for one it is just the internet....and it is just a frigging car.....

This I truly agree with, I do really like FABO it is very helpful
and I just ignore all the jackasses with stupid or smartass comments
After if ya get involved with em your just one of em

Yea it's always hard to grasp the idea that everyone don't do things the same
as I or you would do them. I think suggestions on how to do it instead of
" that's a dumbass way to do it" are the best.

This is my little rant. Before I came to FABO, I was restoring a Triumph Spitfire. My forum there was so helpful, and no one had any negativity about your posts or any weird stuff you wanted to do. They were there to help and encourage you any way they could. When I first came to FABO, I felt it was different than that but still very helpful. For the last few months I have been more and more disillusioned with every post I post or read. There is so much infighting among the responders that the original post is soon forgotten as everyone bitches about the other persons reply. It has gotten so bad that I rarely come on this site anymore, and I once used to love coming here. I am regretting my Gold membership and I know I won't renew it. What was once a great, helpful site has, for me anyway, devolved into negative infighting that I can't stand. If I wanted that in my life I'd spend more time with my kids. I know I can't be the only one to feel this way. Is it just me or do we too often get off the subject and pick each other apart?
i'm with you thats why i didn't renew my gold membership,,Whats really bad is you have the site founder and certain mods also participating in this instead of setting an example.I have had several of my threads attacked just because a have a rare part and they don't..THE SITE IS REALLY NO FUN ANYMORE AS CLIQUES HAVE TAKEN OVER AND SOME OF THE RULES ARE JUST BULL SH%T..:wack::wack:

I agree with some of what the OP and several other have stated. There is a few cliques of folks that if you are not a part of, you will not get responses to your questions.

I speak fluent sarcasm and get it when it is offered, but many do not. You have to be tough skinned to post things on the site as if you post something that is not the "accepted norm" to the in-crowd you will be ridiculed and taunted.

The MOPAR community in general is thought of as a bunch of old, arrogant jerks that many do not wish to talk with because they do not want to be called Ferd Herders or Chebby chokers and god help you if you mention a foreign car manufacturer. We need to loosen up a bit and start to promote the auto restoration hobby as a common interest. I admit that I do pull for the teams that are flying the MOPAR flag but that doesn't mean that someone that has done something with a different manufacturer sleeps with sheep.

I did renew my gold membership mostly for the knowledge base that has been built up here and I know this site requires revenue to standup and run. I appreciate the Mods because they are not getting paid to do what they do and are offering up as a service to us all.

I do think we all need to realize the old saying about opinions are like bassholes, everyone likes to fish but doesn't care about what others are catching. If you don't have something nice to say, press the shutup button and move on with life.

Thanks,

Jesse

Now on many sites, Superdart would have just earned himself a permanent ban for attacking the site's mods and admins..

But not here. Why?

Because we do our best to leave the lines of communication as open and fair as we can. Now, sometimes that means there are comments that are not the best. Sometimes, they only SEEM to be out of line for some. Other times, they are out of line.

Staff is in a difficult position. We dont want to be censors, and avoid doing so. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen someone say something, and it came out wrong or was "under-worded" so that it seems impolite. It happens a lot and can be unintentional many times.

Then there are egos, which can be and often are, bruised so very easily and also often unintentionally. Simple differing opinions can easily, through just one word, be turned into wars between the participants.

We aren’t perfect, and we don’t read each and every post. We just can’t. But in general, we really try not to ban people, delete posts because of what we "think" the poster was trying to say, etc. We try not to be parents here because none of you are children. I don’t believe it's the mod's job to sanitize everything posted.

Staff works hard to try to give everyone a place that is generally friendly, helpful and beneficial for all.

Not that my opinion matters but I see so many here without a clue even on changing a light bulb on their own Mopar that its makes me laugh out loud. Purists who spell other car manufactures names like Ferd and Chebby as if all they ever owned were Chrysler products and how they couldn't get to work because their car won't start And Chrysler, a company who for years made so many bad decisions that they were bought and sold by more than one car manufacturer and is now owned by Fiat. How many jokes were produced over the years in regards to Fix It Again Tony :)

I ask a simple question in regards to wheel size on the Signet and get 0 replies yet over 100 views. I personally don't care for a--holes, republicans or christians and although many here have their heads so far up the a-- I am amazed they can even hold a conversation. when will they learn that there is no Chrysler corporation, there is no Mopar and there hasn't been new technology from these people since Zora Argus Duntov the father of the Corvette built the first Hemi which when he joined the ranks of Chrysler in the early 50's saw their engine was just like the one's he build for the Ford Flathead several years prior.

Since StrokerScamp left, there are very few here who have anything of value or even use commonsense when it comes to knowledge.

Happy now?

I do my best to help all members on the items I have the answers for or have seen answers posted on FABO and I try to provide a link if I can recall the details.

I've been on this site for 2 years, it took me exactly 3 posts to find out there is alot of help and there are those who consistently will give advice and guide you along thru your situation. I've seen the cross-words, the inuendo's, the cuss-words, the making fun of because they would never do it to their own car, and down right about anything else. First off I praise Joey's response because based on what I gather and who I've met most of us are in that late 20-something to mostly 50-something. Geez guys, some of these "fights", "disagreements", "out and out butt chew'n", I mean really? Do you really conduct yourself like that where you work? And if ya did how long would they keep you? If you were in any kind of a management position, what would you do? How long would you keep an employee who's confrontational? Again I go back to Joeys Post.... Thanks Joey and to the rest of the mods for reading with an open mind. As for myself, I "try" to not add fuel to any of the fires (I'm not a Gold Member) but I try to to just find another thread without all the B.S., or even start another one under a different title.. I really think it's a priveldge to be able to post and comment. You never know how good you have it till you loose it...

Been here fifteen months.Been to other websites, they don't have the comradery and feel of this one.Why I am here daily. The mods do an outstanding job, considering the situation at hand at times.

i'm with you also and you said it perfectly being a chrysler worker for 20 years, never would of thought they would close our plant here in delaware but they just didn't care for the best workforce out of all the plants..
Also you are correct strokerscamp is a great guy with a wealth of knowledge,,we talk everyday and its a shame it was really a personal vandetta against him as to why he is no longer here..

really Asa why did you post in this thread .... I dont know Asa i just had to it happened .. Well tell your fingers to stop posting like that ... Ok Asa i will talk to you later

Also you are correct strokerscamp is a great guy with a wealth of knowledge,,we talk everyday and its a shame it was really a personal vandetta against him as to why he is no longer here..

Do you really think if we were about personal vendettas that YOU would still be here? Not meaning to be offensive, but you can be quite a pain in the *** at times. As I said before, on most other sites, you would be long gone already.

For all the complaining you do, I have to ask. Why havent you left of your own accord since you apparantly dont like how I run the site? There are other sites out there, why are you here complaining constantly? Why when you get asked not to break a rule by a mod do you run around looking for others to tattle on?

Im pretty humble about most things, but really the rest of the staff and I deserve a Nobel Prize for patience after having to deal with you.

The original post wasnt about attacking the mods and I have alot of respect for "Mopar to ya" because he posted something intelligent and well thought out about how the site has a bunch of inghting at times, while you try to reduce it to how the staff are picking on you.

Grow up. YOU are exactly what the op is referring to. Everything with you becomes a childish exchange.

My apologies to the other members - I dont generally like to air this stuff in public
