I spent a couple hours yesterday preparing to go to a car show and
as I checked the oil level just for chit's and giggles it was barely
over the full mark, yes I have it parked level and just did a Valve adjustment
on it before winter plus it was dew...
I changed the oil on that day and she is running and burring perfect after setting the valves.
I spent an hour starting and running my /6 and never seen any gas dripping in the engine.. Could this be the fuel pump ? or am I wrong thinking these /6 pumps will let fuel in my engine ? Thank you for your time on this..
As of now I am going monday morning for a new fuel pump.

Just about ANY engine with a mechanical pump can develop a leak into the oil pan, and this is dangerous for a couple of reasons

It can and does cause internal engine explosions which can rupture and warm tinware

It can and does dilute oil to the point of bearing failure

When I adjusted the valves and drained the oil it was good, I went outside about 2 hours ago and smelt it (still in the 4 quart contaner) so this must have just happed :-k
I drove it hard testing the timing and carb adjustments before todays race day and came home to wash her up and wipe the engine bay down for the car show at George Rays today... I am so glad I looked before I took her down the track hard. Looks like a oil change and fuel pump day tomorrow
