"Please HELP" Need to find a good, reputable place to send my core to be reground. The MAGNUM motor came out of a truck and is in very good condition with low miles.. I would like to put this in my dart, Hopefully i can get this one done and not have to pay 3 to 4 hundred dollars for a new cam.. So can somebody point me in the right direction..............

Thanks ........................................PETE ..........................................

Cams are cheap, you really want to regrind a used cam? Why not just get a new one that has the specs you want?

The three reputable places that I know of are: Oregon camshaft, Hughes, and Bullet cams. Thus sayeth the Lord.

Tim at bulletcams did me real well. $250 shipped both ways.

Yes sir. My friend Rodney and I have had Oregon grind several cams for us and they do great work. Charles has one of their regrinds in his 392 Hemi in his 29 Model A. It is great. I have two. One on my 331 Hemi and the custom I had them do for my slant. Quick turn around too.

I just had a cam done at Oregon for my maggy cost me $192 bucks buying a core off him if I can ever get mine out and sent back I will get $50 of it back.

Cam #1458
206/212 @ .050", 258/264 adv, .480"/.488' lift(1.5:1 rocker) which should be .512 and .527 on the 1.6 rockers.

hughes does not have a in house cam grinder...they would have to set it out to be reground ...so you might as well send it to bullet.....

I used Bullet for an UGL 48 degree billet. Way happy with the whole experience.
Spoke at length with Tim and bounced suggestions and ideas back and forth.........with the implicit understanding that I would defer to the experts.
But I have a lot of little compromises in my deal because I want it to be sort of streetable , and this set of demands dictated the final grind as opposed to a balls out effort.
Yeah.....I'm really happy.
There are others who are good.........I'm struggling to remember one that is in SoCal , but am drawing a blank.........I had to look. Schneider.
Oregon's rep is solid.
Geography should be the least concern. Unless you spray weld or re-heat treat the shaft , you are somewhat limited in how far you can change a profile.
Make a call or two and get a feel for the people doing the work.

I'd send it to Bullet,or you could try Bullet, did I mention Bullet cams? Tim,
Kirk or Mark can all help pick a cam that will work in your application. They do great crankshaft repair and balancing as well. Couldn't find a better bunch.

Thank you guys for all the help...........looks like Oregon grind it is ........
