This little 66' Valiant 'V-100' 273/235 HP was originally owned by
Plymouth in 1966, with the body and suspension prepped at the 'factory'
by the 'Chrysler Racing Group'.

The Valiant V-100 was built to 'hit' the shipping weight mark of #2808 lbs.

Bill Stiles was contracted by Plymouth to build the 273/235 HP engine,
as the car was set to attack the 1966 NHRA 'F/SA' Class in NED 1
and National Record of 13.81 @ 103.40 MPH.

* Headers, provided by Jere Stahl.

Below, {1968 Photo} where the car is classed in H/SA.

Love this car. Do you know whatever happened to it and where it is now? Current pics? Thanks for sharing.

I like all A-body cars,but have a soft spot for the Early A,s.You don,t see alot of the Early A,s around here and I like different.Lots of 67-up around.:D

1966

Chrysler had visions of several different 273 engines.

* 273/235 HP.........standard performance engine {Valiant, Barracuda, Dart}
* 273/240 HP.........available with Barracuda and Dart GT 'Rally Package' only
* 273/255 HP.........available with the Valiant 'S-66' only
* 273/275 HP.........D Dart, available with the Dart GT only

I like both as long as the early a is a 64. (Favorite is a 64 valiant signet 200)

And the later is a 68-71. Not into the others much.

both -- I like the driven ones & the cars that the owners are proud of-- do not care of the year --each year has nice looking rides.

If I had funds I would find a 1965 dart convert or 65 valiant convert-- something about 65!!

Lawrence the 66 & 69 are owned by me the 62 is a friend(used to be mine)!

Sound Wise,

The 1965 273 'Commando'

The 1965 muffler was hollowed out, and 'low-restriction' was an
understatement.

Not sure on the exact Horsepower difference, but the old-timers say it
was worth +10 HP over the 1966 and 1967 Mufflers.

i have to wonder as we get older maybe we tend to like the earlier cars better? or maybe we get where we learn to like what we like and not what everyone else tells us is "cool"? if ya like the 66 valiant, thats what is important! personally i like it.

Yes,

I like the 1966 Valiant V-100.....

1966 Valiant 'S-66'

Plymouth never went though with it's original plan to offer a 'Special Order'
Valiant 'S-66' in the V-100 Post-Sedan.

A 'special performance' version of the 273 Commando, but rated at 255 HP
and only available in the Valiant V-100.

* Specially prepared Cylinder Heads by 'Kenyon'.
* 'Clay Smith' Solid Lifter Camshaft {.450" Lift / 274* Duration / 50* Overlap}
* Holley 585 CFM ~ Model #4160 Carburetor
* Aluminum Intake Manifold

That was cool thanks for sharing :burnout:

My parent's first brand new car was a red 63 Valiant, so that's definitely where I picked up the disease. In 68 it was time to upgrade, and I tagged along to the dealership where my dad had his eye on a 68 Chrysler 300. On the showroom floor that day was a red Barracuda, and I gave my best effort at convincing the folks that it would be a better family car than the 300. Oh well, I got my own eventually.......

I love all the 66 valiant racing pics,
All us early a body lovers are falling behind the late model are ahead by 50 lol
Early A body's take a special person to love J/K
I love all mopars:burnout:

We've owned 6 later A's and 2 early A's. I like the early ones the best. I love the body lines and roof lines.
