I know some people have problems staying motivated to get thier car fixed, fixed up or running so let me tell what helps me.

If I have ANYTHING on order for it, I seem to stay in a better frame of mind about the whole thing.
Even if it's just a couple of LED's or bolts or whatever.
I know money is tight but it doesn't have to cost a lot, just anything so you feel there is progress.

FABO motivates me plenty (puts me in the car mood), but I know some poor souls loose thier way.

Hope this helps.

If you live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and need a hand getting started, or stumped on something,, PM me,, I love helping sleeping Project cars wake up..

Sounds like me, but I don't have anyone close enough that needs help or I'd be there right now.

I recommend watching some youtube videos of people running their cars hard and having fun. Recently I have been watch a lot of 10.5 outlaw racing. It keeps me motivated.

Hard to get motivated, yes . The weather got NICE in California, so the "do it " switch hit. Last 3 weeks, car is jammed ,doors back on. Prepping fenders,as I post.

Yep, I do that too. :-D

Simply doing 15 - 30 minutes a day,does wonders to stay involved. (Ah,2 posts...lol).

Crap. I ended up posting a double because the page hesitated to load on the first one and I redid it sorry everyone.

Hey Bomber
Do me a favor and drive over to Aamco in Santa Maria and smoke the tires in their parking lot, would ya?
Them tell them Greg said "GET BACK TO WORK!"

I used to be the shop foreman/service writer there, and I was famous for yelling that at the guys. (friendly type yelling of course) :)

My biggest problem, other than money, is age creeping up. I would LOVE to "do stuff."

Hell the other day I got off on a tangent, thinking about investigating whether I can modify an old Chevy SB Hilborn, etc, stack injection setup and convert to EFI.

Del,don't get me started.... lol.

I am having troubles getting motivated, but that is partially because it has been so dang cold here talking again -40 to -60 tomorrow with windchills. Even with a heated garage which Im sure can get up to 60*, I just have not been wanting to push the car to the center of the garage and start tearing into some of the issues. Mostly because I have to push the car back to the side so the Fiance can park back in the garage. To make it worse, I have a stack of new parts sitting in boxes waiting for me. Plenty to do, just not motivated to work on it. So I have been building model kits, painting the house and doing little projects here and there.

LOL. I have a stack of stuff sitting here waiting too.
I don't have a garage, but if I did that is where I would be right now.

Motivational,,

You got some parts, This is the first thing I do when I go to help some-one , I need to know, and it usually helps fire them up,,

Gather all the parts,, take them outta the packaging, inspect them again,,

Usually just fondling the parts ( I'm waiting.. lol) helps get the blood flowing,,

Then Inventory it,, write it all down,, and clearly mark the packaging with a felt pen etc.. so you're not digging for it..

In that pile of parts, there will likely be something quick to install, pick something shiny, that'll make you feel good, put that on, then look for something else, quick and easy..

Then I start them cleaning and painting small stuff..

Pick just a small job,, just a 20 min,, then pick something else small,,

It's when you look at the WHOLE picture,, it's hard to get started.

It's kinda like eating an elephant,, just take one small bite at a time..

hope it helps..

I got a good set of speakers and busted out a 70's stereo for my man cave from a garage sale. Place rocks now and is fun just to play loud music in there while tinkering with car parts. You dont have to tackle the beast under the moving blankets and tons of crap, just rebuild the alternator or clean something. I'm doing up my bezels right now, small stuff.

I have A auto repair shop and when the day at the shop is done.I go home have dinner talkto the wife.THEN I go back to the shop and do one thing to my project .IT adds up fast you will have done in no time set golls

It's def hard to be motivated when it's single digits outside and you need to lay on your back on the ground or driveway to get to your next project in line.

...it would help if there are a couple of mopar folks around you.. i have found one so I am looking forward to this summer....and also to watch my son when we power up the engine.....

It is hard for me, because I have been waiting on AMD to ship inner fenders since Oct. Was planning on having the engine compartent painted over Thanksgiving holiday, than Christmas holiday, now who knows.
But in the mean time done other projects, rebuilt the front end, painting smaller components.
I actually fixed an annoying squeek in my speedoeter cable in my tuck tonight, because I was looking for something to do.
I hear you guys about the cold, it is 14 deg here right now, but going back to the -degrees next week, and calling for another 5" of snow by morning.

I had to resurrect this thread. I found my motivation yesterday, and the fact it was 50* here. LOL

I finally dropped the trans and swapped out the converter. Here is a list of things I need to get done before warm weather hits.

Replace radiator
Install HEI Ignition
Amp Meter Bypass
Replace front wheel bearings
Fix clunky steering column
Fix battery cable

Im sure Im forgetting something but this will keep me busy for thru this weekend for sure!

I hope some of you other guys found your motivation

Just don't do anything until you to. Taking a break might make you enjoy it more. If you have been taking a long break maybe it's time to ask yourself if your really love the hobby. I didn't touch my car for a few months and had no desire too. Then I went home and had to move some parts and all of a sudden I pulled the motor out of my car and dumped way to much money into it.

Even though I bought a reverse lamp bezel just days ago, I'm considering getting rid of my 67 vert project. I'm sure I could get more coin for the parts by selling them the same way I've gathered them but I'm not motivated to do that either. :(

When it's 10 degrees F outside, it is hard to get going. I force myself to the barn, turn on the tv and before you know it, there's always something to do.
Spring time is just around the corner!!!

My wife says I go through seasons... I work on my Mopars starting in the spring and summer but as soon as fall gets here I close my shop and don't even think about them while it's hunting season.. As soon as hunting season is over ( January) you will find me lurking on this sight and tinkering with my cars... But I do take some time during the spring and summer to do some fishing and camping... I like to mix things up so I don't get burnt out on one thing...
