Today got my yearly bonus. Was $950 last year. Opened envelope and is is half. Was hoping to buy turbo, blow off and waste gate. This won't even buy turbo. Looks like time to do some more scrappin

I'm sorry to hear that. It sucks when you plan on something and it falls through...

Ebay Chinese turbos are getting better in quality every year, they are not half bad now. Might be worth getting one to start your build, then replace with name brand if it goes bad. GT35? My wastegate will cost more than my freaking turbo!

Another cool thing about the chinese turbos is that good reputable companies make rebuild guts for them so you get your foot in the door with the cheaper turbo then rebuild it with quality guts down the road.

I have a holset HX35 that could use a rebuild I'd sell cheap.

I least you didn't get laid off, in todays corporate America a bonus is a thing of the past

Sure does....but it is part of life.......since being forced into retirement I have tried to adapt the hope for the best expect the worst attitude....

At least you have a job, so its not all bad.

But I know how you feel. Place I used to work gave Christmas bonus's, only a couple hundred but better than nothing. Then one year after we got bought out by another company, our Christmas bonus was a T-shirt with the company logo on it. Nice, not !

could be a hell of alot worse. I was given a task here at my work with an insane deadline. they told me to get it done at all cost. worked 68hrs in a week to meet the deadline busting my ***. got called into the office and chastised for working overtime. not just a stern talking to but a full on blow out. i would have quit if i didnt need the damn job so bad.

Your year end bonus was 100% more then mine, I would be happy just to get one

I'd be disappointed too. But it's nice they give you a bonus. My employer gave us each one beach towel.

Sounds about right. I used to work on Sunday at the USPS. Had to finish up any mail that got screwed up on Saturday night. USPS has a multi tier boss system, SDO, supervisor of district operations...aka floor bosses, report to MDO, manager of district operations who report to the lead MDO of the shift. Was ordered one day to run the 700 or letters that did not get processed thru the stamp cancelling machine that puts that orange tag on the back of the mail. In order to do this the BDS.....
http://www.nalc.org/depart/safety/USPSBDS.html
needed to be turned on. So the lead MDO ordered one of the ET's to fire it up. BDS system was not even warmed up and Homeland Security was there....contract for BDS states no run time on Sunday, or at least that is what the USPS Inspection service claimed back then. Fast forward to Monday night...both Starvos, the ET who fired up the BDS and I were hauled off the floor by the Inspection Service. Were told that we technically had committed an act of Domestic Terrorism by doing what we done...and were threatened with legal action. When we explained that we were doing as Rose, the lead MDO ordered, they bought her in as well. She claimed she never ordered us to fire the BDS/AFCS up. So she left us hanging...Seems like you are damned if you do damned if you don't some days.....

For what it is worth, be thankful you got a bonus....some of us are scraping to get by on SSDI......

I once worked at a place that got sold. Should'ha been smart enough to walk out when the new "owner" walked in

The thing is, "he" wasn't the owner, the bank was. so we went from an owner who actually OWNED 90% of the whole damn thing, to some guy who was a signature on a loan

AND he was a dead horse, because even though he did no real work, he took money out

Then the profit sharing went away

Then the dental

Then the..........

He had the balls to tell us one time that he "had not cut anybody's wages" Well, LOL, he hadn't. Cut them by the hour. Just everything else.

One time he told us that "the largest expense of the business is the employees." In other words if "we could just get rid of you" we'd just rake in the money.

Wasn't long after that I left.

Not for nothing...but in the grand scheme of a turbo $$$ build what the hell is $475 going to buy anyway.....if you are building it to bracket race never mind the necessary consistent chassis you will probably need a sfi bellhousing, a t-brake, bump box, electronic/co2 boost controller and various other things....if that $475 was the breaker in the builder you could not afford it anyway.....unless of course you are going to be another one of those guys that has a 900 hp street car....no cage or necessary safety equipment so making a pass is out of the question....

Sorry I just couldn't help myself. I do feel your pain though, I've had crappy bonuses before myself.

Never and I mean NEVER EVER count on a bonus. A bonus is nothing more than an unsigned promise. If you count on getting a bonus you're a f***in idiot. It's just that simple. A bonus is just like a tax return. You work all year and for 11 months out of it you manage to keep things going/bills getting paid but come tax return time suddenly you "need" that return do go blow on something. You get where I'm going with this, doesn't matter if you get it or not you still make due. That said I do understand if you had to pay a sudden car repair or doctor visit or etc...just sayin.
