Street outlaw clowns are in trouble!

-
NHRA is circling the drain anyway , I quit watching them when they lowered the top fuel cars to racing 1000ft down from a full quarter mile

This may end up hurting NHRA on the sponsor money.
According to AllPar, an episode of Street Outlaws has 2.2 million viewers & NHRA has only 400,000 viewers.

It want take long for sponsors to see this as well.

How would an NRA member react if he was told that he could only shoot their gun at an approved gun range?

^^^^^^^^^^Nailed it !^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Shooting a gun in your backyard isn't illegal though. Unless you live in a suburban area.

much like most of the comments say, I think the NHRA is just mad because they aren't getting any of that money. Anyone who watches the show can see all the lights and empty streets and know its ALL staged. there is no way your going to have all those trucks and trailers on the road, let alone make that many passes without the cops showing up. That being said I get a kick out of the show and watch it with my daughter.

My buddy and I were talking about this issue this morning. Totally agree. They probably hit up the producers and were told to pound sand. I wonder if NHRA is going to ask Orielly's which is a major sponsor of NHRA national events to end their sponsorship of the show. I thinks it's ironic that they profess to being safety consious while several in the head office have DUIs on their records.

I for one would like to see the IRS go in and pull their non profit status. Too few making big money on the backs of the racers.

I would say the NHRA is between a rock and a hard spot. The show is fake, everyone knows it. But, the minute some kid hurts himself and the NHRA is tied to it, they will be in the spot light. The show has to give the elusion of being illegal and there lies the problem. Hell I like the show and wish I was on it, but the flip side to that is its totally unreal.

How is the NHRA tied to that show? I have yet to see an advertisement on that show for the NHRA.

Wonder how members here have cars that car run with those "clowns?" Not many I bet...everybody is ripping on these guys but the network made the show what it is, not the cars or drivers. What's next....NHRA ban me from racing cause I watch it? :happy1:

I doubt any of those guys even care about this NHRA crap anyways lol

How do you think local tracks would feel if these guys are banished. These guys show up/do appearances at a track and the place is packed with people wanting to meet the SO celebrities. All that gate money doesn't appear at those tracks that really need it without the celebrities being on the premises. A little catch 22?

Maybe some of those 800K salaries would be better spent on competent individuals to run the deal and not treat it as a money tree to rape it bare. Put more back into other facilities instead of bleeding the sportsman dry! My fricken seat belts are out of date... I'll just back down to 11.50 and run my 50 year old belts. LOL GENIUS!!!

nhra can count one more viewer not watching the dog/pony show they air on weekends.

That's true, the kids would love to meet these people and see their cars, got a point there.

last year NHRA put lots of adds on TV showing TF blow ups. not much diff. the first NHRA event for me was the 1955 the FIRST nationals. greatbend KS. and going to tulsa 1965 to 1968 the world points finals. so i think i should be able to have my opinion. and i do like seeing your opinions to.

Hell, Dominator belongs on this site! He put down a pretty good run on Boosted...and i dont even watch it regularly. Who wouldnt cheer for a 67 Dart against the hordes of Mustangs? And that old man mustang owner is all pissed that his car isnt fast enough......maybe its the fat kid driving it? Hell, my wife watches it and she hates muscle cars!

It has a Chevy motor so a lot of guys on here wouldn't.

i would cheer for the dart but its big block chevy powered. it would be more attractive if there was actually some kind of super hemi with 5 127 mm turbos kicking out 4,000 horsepower on blacktop that was street driven there and back.

LMAO!!!

the only thing that is real is the racing.
The drama & cash is all network.

They came to tulsa, got a permit to shut down a roadway to shoot an episode.
I'm sure that is what is done at every venue.

From what i'm told, the money isn't a lot.
But the sponsor benefits are good.

Like any reality show, take it with a grain of salt & remember that it's entertainment.

I can see next season in small print "closed course".

Nhra really just did more for the show than they know.

x2

So if NHRA does not want them, I am sure IHRA tracks will take them.

It seems that Street Outlaws does better than NHRA shows.

I am sure that the show has a safety crew.

I was thinking this myself, all I keep reading is "the show sucks", "its not real", or "I used to street race but then I grew up", NHRA can go to hell, the only reason I keep my license up is because we have no outlaw tracks up here and if I want to run my car all out I have to have it, I am actually just filling out my paperwork now, it is going to cost a total of 238 dollars for a membership and a license, harness is due in may, 69 bucks, chassis cert is due next year, 275 bucks, the stupid fee's and sfi crap are killing this sport, then NHRA pulls that crap on the outlaws show, that's just a little to much big brother crap for me, I am wondering, the guy's that say the nhra would be liable if anything happened, how exactly? that is just about the stupidest thing I have heard, there is nothing I have ever seen that say's you can't street race if you have an nhra license, nhra isn't the law, they are just jealous of the show, pass time, pinks all out and street outlaws have done more for drag racing in the last 10 years than the nhra has
