Summit has trick flow heads

-
I contacted Summit and Trick Flow this morning. They say the heads won't be available until October.

I think they (summit) owe us each 20 summit bucks for false advertising..........

i wouldn't be in a hurry for the first big batch. im sure there will be s
ome revisions made.

haha I'm not. And I agree. With the release date getting pushed farther and farther back, theres obviously a bug somewhere thats being worked out.

the bug is them trying to achieve the flow #'s they have already published. I bet they drew these things up on a computer and took the data given and then created hypothetical flow #'s and now they have some metal in front of them that is missing the mark.

I think we have a Bingo!

very likely.

While that's a possibility, I'm more likely believe they have materiel supply/logistic issues...very rarely do advertised flow numbers meet observed numbers, and most of the aftermarket mfrs are OK with taking that hit, especially a company like TFS where they were making money for 3 decades before even introducing a Mopar product. What they care about more is getting the product in stock and sold, and if they don't have raw materials to make the product or tooling to machine/finish them, that affects the release date a lot more than advertised flow numbers. All they have to do is be close and toss in that little disclaimer with the (*) that actual numbers may vary based on differing input conditions.

I talked to them and posed the flow numbers concern 4-6 weeks ago. They said the
CNC program is done and the flow numbers are there....no problem. They said the
delay is 100% getting the supply/manufacturing logistics in synch and up to speed.

*Starts looking in the couch cushions for change....may have to revisit the 440 in mama's Duster idea....

I'm gonna wait until Jim Laroy or MRL takes a look at a set.
hopeful they will chime in when they do.

i check summit daily! soon as they show available i will be ordering a set and sending them to the head shop. very curious how they actually flow out of the box.

well, did you order a set ?

they are starting to show up in stock at summit.

what spring outside diameter do you guys recommend?

1.550"

1.560"

1.460"

I am currently running the 1.5 ratio comp cams pro magnum rocker arms but plan to run harland sharp 1.5 arms in the future.

1.560, if you're gonna do it, DO IT.

??? Is not 1.560 the larger of the ones you posted?

But, you do bring up a good point. I would check with HS to see if they have a max diameter that you can use, or you may be buying new springs again.

pardon my ignorance...... but what is the purpose of the smaller dia. spring? is it only to increase rocker arm clearance for high ratio set ups?

That's why they make grinders.
