The last year since I have retired I believe I am literally falling apart. Just got home from the doctor. Bp high, blood sugar high. The reason I had gone in today is my ankle is hurting really bad especially if I climb any steps. I live in a two story home. I thought it was bone spurs, I have had that issue before. Now they believe I have torn the Achilles tendon. I haven't been doing anything out of the ordinary so have no clue how this could have happened.

that'll teach ya for retiring!! never realized how good you had it back then.. :poke:. ~~you know I'm just jamming on ya.. do whatever the Dr. told ya. And yea, I haven't yet reached my 55th and be sure, there are days.... :BangHead:

I thought when I retired last February I would finish my barracuda and be able to enjoy driving around. Totally stripped down and applied epoxy primer and 2 k primer and that is where it stopped. I have the paint and new upholstery, carpet, headliner and gaskets for reassembly. Maybe come spring I can get started again.

Yep by the time retirement is affordable we are all wore out lol.
Lori has very similar ankle/feet issues Achilles tendonitis with bone spurs. Very painful
Southern Comfort has to help lol

Seems I found blown head gaskets, worn out ball joints, and leaky master cylinder shortly after turning 40. Fortunately, I haven't thrown a rod...

Perk Up !! -- You're only as old as You think. - I'm rapidly getting there.

Whiskey is the answer. If you drink enough you will still hurt, but you won't care. Just kidding, but a little can be soothing. Yes , getting older isn't fun , but still better than the alternative, so far.
Yote

Retiring (part time-no stress) Jan 1. I just hope my knees hold up. The rest is not bad for an old man. Have knee pain but no impairment yet-only a matter of time I guess-----------------

I've never cared for the whiskey. But the way I feel today, don't tempt me. Picked up a bag full of medicine and hope that will keep me from having surgery any time soon

The longer you keep em(cars that is) the less time it seems you have to work on them. Im jealous of you Florida guys with no winter. I have so many little things I want to tear apart on the car and correct...but winter and cold temps have hit New Jersey!

I'm in north Carolina and have moderate but fluctuations in temperature. One day the high was 30 and a few days later it was 60. Mine is disassembled and waiting for paint and reassembly. Perhaps by spring I will be more healthy and ready to get this project complete

they say, getting old ain`t for lite weights. wonder if that's why we get heavier- LOL I`m 70 and still nursing a messed up knee from a 4 wheeler wreck. sure takes longer to get over something now !

Sorry to hear of your old man problems. Never stop trying because it is over then. My dad put a metal roof on his garage at 73 even with being old and in pain falling apart. He made it till 81 but the last 3 years were not favorable to him as not being able to move well.

My Grandfather was still carrying 3 wire bales of hay on his shoulder through the snow and about 200 yards out into his field for the Elk in the winter when he was 100.

Me, I'm going to keep going till I can't stand it any more and then spend the rest of my life on good strong painkillers. :D

And beer.

That is impressive because we produce bales at about 50 pounds each. The smoke pain killers are now becoming legal if that is your choice. lol

The problem is the older I get the less I feel like doing the easier it is to get hurt the longer it takes to heal the less I feel like doing the easier etc. Who came up with that SH1T! The good news is pretty soon I won't be able to remember what I used to be able to do.

ya life did not come with a warranty plan , must like factory hotrods , lol . its hard to say , but the oem parts have to last , replacement parts are to hard to get installed .

It's funny in a way. Before this issue, I could get up in the morning and go out to the garage and plan on spending the day working on my car. But a couple of hours later I need to rest. The Dr. changed several medicines today and added one for pain and inflammation. Maybe I will start to feel like my self again. Praying the ankle heals quickly. I really don't care to have surgery and be laid up even longer.

I played football through college and then was on the Olympic team for about 10 years. I guess I'm about worn out

The older I get the better I used to be but I was never that good! Hope you get to feelin better soon.

I'm getting there myself but still do pretty good compared to others my age. Saw an old friend in his eighties the other day at lunch and he said he had to go home and do some mechanic work. I asked him what he had to do and he said "Got to put a rearend in my recliner"

Unfortunately, true to some extent. Can't credit the quote, but it was "super-fit does not = super-healthy", the stress and strain mechanically and ridiculous rates of energy
metabolism do tons of oxidative and other damage. Only truly "appreciated" when it's 30-40yrs. in the RV mirror. There is tons of nutritional & therapeutic help, but it takes
a life commitment to them to help/heal. And if HA/Glucosamine sulfate doesn't save your joints, We have waiting out the pain 'till we have to replace them, hoping they last
the rest of our active time to look forward to....

Getting old is not for the weak willed. See folks talk about doing repetitive motion type of jobs...and cringe. Overuse injuries, as one ages always bring arthritis with them. My primary care doctor recently told me that my skeletal & musculature systems are that of a 65 year old...will be 51 in April. Have this wonderful thing called pseudo gout in my hands. When my rheumatologist diagnosed me about 2 years ago I was his youngest patient with it. Normally doesn't appear to about 60. Spent a couple of hours mixing chili sauce into 35 or so pounds of meat...have a boat load of pain now...not looking forward to spreading masa and meat tomorrow
