ive talked to ozhemi, and I’ve secured a 265 hemi 6 on his next shipment. I’ve tossed around what to do with my 68 dart and I’m finally set on this. So does anybody have advice, tips, experiences? I know I’ll have to switch to a electric fan that covers the right side only for room. Gonna be figuring ways to get my 904 bolted up. Pretty exited for this.

I like this idea. I have always been a big fan of the Hemi Six. Keep us posted.

Must be the same guy this thing caught my eye on the way out of the fall fling.

No experience, but My eye says You're gonna need a master cyl. offset plate like they use for Hemi A's to clear that intake system, :) !

My main worry is my master cyl. Might keep me from being able to run the side drafts. Will probably have to stick to a four barrel.

I think the Hemi A-body MC offset set-up is still available, Lord knows there are a bunch of knock-off conversions out there, Mopar Performance probably still sells them.
I don't think I'd do Your swap without those badass sidedrafts !!!

Ur main worry will be eng length..the hemi 6 is to long for the 68 front rails...u cant run a fan as the waterpump snout is prob 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the std radiator core..in australia from 1969 they lengthened the front rails to fit the hemi in...everyone has tried before in oz to put hemis in pre 69 a bodyswith basically no success.up til 1969 Aust used the us abody front rails...

As far as the master cyl is concerned... fit a small one back under the dash over centre reversre pyshrod sounds crazy but we have done a few...for example toyota vans use a slim cyl...remote the reservoir in the bay etc just takes some fab work.
Not sure how u goin to run the tf with webers no kickdown etc unless all man vave body etc..hate to put a damper on yoyr project...and i understand the novelty value but from a guy who works on these things daily...they are not a great thing.

John is it possible to fab a adapter plate to except the A904 ? just thinking left field

I had a 70 VG Ute I bought from Jeff (Oz Hemi) and it ran great! Indeed the Hemi 6 is longer, they lengthened the inner fenderwells by 3" to accommodate them. I still have a 67 VE grille and headlight bezels laying around for future use...

Spotted this one at Carlisle 2 years ago - there was a crowd around it all day long

I heard I can run an electric fan on the right side only.

The Webber’s might not be able to happen. But if Webber’s would fit, you think I’d have to run a borg instead of a 904?

ok you can buy I believe a adaptor to run the tf, the borg warner trans wont take any sort of punishment, its a weak trans, and then you still have the kickdown prob, no man valve bodies available for the bw 35 trans,..the cooling system is frought with a myriad of probs in the 68, you could blank the waterpump and use an electric system then you have to work ot alternator etc,,the other I was thinking is exhaust fitment to the us kframe as the steering box is mounted basically in line with the std exhaust outlet unless you fabricate headers...hemis also are prone to camshaft end float probs, oil pump failures, are extremely noisy in the valvetrain, and are nothing like the smooth old slantys your used to..

If there's going to be all the issues John Dodge has mentioned, why not source a slant triple Weber intake (I bought mine on the Aussie e Bay site)? DCOE45's can be bought brand new (Spanish version) although the general consensus is the out of production Italian Webers were better. No fitment problems with the slant in any A Body and the Webers do clear the master cylinder. Here’s mine for the slant

Take my advice. Don't listen to the naysayers. Until and unless something becomes a problem, worry about it then. I don't even think the engine bays are the same. I've seen both in person and IMO, the American cars have more room in the engine bay between the inner fenders.

no they don't I have darts and plenty of aust valiants, believe me I been doin this 36 years, the hemi swap into the a body is terrible, Chrysler had the same problem which is why they lengthened the rails and skirts...

oh and just for the record the americans designed the d series engine (hemi 6) tested it ,hated it , went back to the slant(rg series) the aussies went on with it, but its not a nice motor.
