That and if you have a turbo pushing oil don't start it. LOL It will run till it uses all the crankcase oil.I had a inline 6-71 run away on me one time scary experience . WARNING . don't let anyone mess with the gov on a Detroit unless they know what they are doing ever .
Even the Iron block 4-53 is over 1100 lbs and still kinda talla 6-53 is a big engine they weigh between 1800 and 2000 there no longer than a 440 but are very deep .
A non-computerized Cummins 6bt is the way to go for a diesel pickup truck.

this thing is just super cool!!! another thing is thay can run backwards and burn oil doing it and blow exhaust out air intake!
A 6V-53 is only 318 cubic engines. I have worked on a lot of them in the Army. The 6V was used a lot in the old M113A2A3 APC . The M109 howitzers had 8V-92 in them etc. we allways used a clip board after a rack Adjustment, Incase of a run away.a 6-53 is a big engine they weigh between 1800 and 2000 there no longer than a 440 but are very deep .
Problem is that's about the going rate for one of those trucks. High mileage, body rotten off the frame, blown transmission, etc.. they still bring $2k and up.That would be fine if I could get one what I think is reasonable. Around here any cummins that the seller can convince himself "might run" is at least 3500 and in a truck 5K and up, running or not
