Tax time. Not fun.
Between personal tax, sales tax and the accountant im out nearly 2500. Cost of being in business.
The wife/bookkeeper not listening and setting money aside for this.
Better luck next year.
First time i had to pay on my income tax. Mind you, i never paid out all year.

Hey guys, WTH with the deleted posts? Must have gotten crazy after I left. Was not political at all while I was here......:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

Taxes suck. Always a crap shoot with the way my income works. I’ve at least been lucky enough to overshoot what I owe with payments, but I got razor close last year.

I was OK this year and got a little back, but with the changes in new tax code here...next year is a complete mystery as to how it will work out.

I figured that out. Thanks....My phone was OOS. And I was out of town. Lets move on.....

Oh great, another monkey wrench in the work situation. The well-informed rumor is that they may shut down the primary business around the beginning of June which would possibly mean a 12-14 week severance package on top of the 25% incentive bonus due in May.

Now I need to decide if I want to hang around to grab that too before moving on. The remaining business would keep me employed at 75% pay which I have little interest in staying for...but probably need to let them think I will.

My personal decision is if I can tolerate another 4 weeks for that money. I guess it will depend on what any other offers I can secure before then are.

*Sigh*.

I hate being tied to the cash, but an extra 25% of my salary is very enticing. :BangHead:

Dude I feel for you, I really do. It sucks working in such conditions. Honestly, while I'm sure the money is nice, unless you're desperate for it, there sometimes is a line where the money just isn't worth your sanity, safety or health

As you age, Chris, You find out life is NOT ALL about the money....

That is exactly my dilemma. It is a lot of money at my salary rate, but the job is killing me with stress.

The issue I have to work out is whether another 3 months of pay in the bank is worth the extra time required to get it. On the one hand it lessens my stress on the other side looking for a new job, but on the other it extends the stress further that I may be able to take.

I have to do some serious thinking about it before I decide to take any action.

I've already figured that out actually. its one of the reasons I'm getting out of the guard at 14 years instead of staying for 20. The couple hundred bucks at age 65 is not worth the physical trauma and the time away from my family. It's just not.

I realize that is a lot of money to pass up, but ask yourself, can you get by on what you have already until you land that next gig if you were to quit? And how much is the stress affecting not only your health but your family life? That's one of the reasons I left my job working with at risk kids back in 2015 after a couple years. I loved the job of working with most of those kids. But the constant threats of getting stabbed and not being allowed to carry anything for our own defense. Not being allowed to fight back if needed. Working a swing shift made it bearable, but what stressed me the most was all the backstabbing between upper level staff. They spent more time bitching about students than they did trying to help those students. Then they'd purposely trying to get other staff in trouble, including setting them up. (literally, one of them hired a prostitute as a blind date for another staffer, the date occurred after work hours but she picked him up, the staffer that set it up, called the cops, had the dude arrested for solitication of a prositute, dude was fired while the one that set him up got promoted. true story)

A question for the brain trust. A few months ago I took the exhaust manifolds off the Barracuda, bead blasted them, cleaned, and painted as per the instructions on the can (Bill Hirsch exhaust manifold paint). I baked them at 350 for a half hour, waited a couple days and put them back on. After several drives I have one small spot that I apparently touched before it was dry, or something like that. The paint flaked off. Other than that everything looks great.

I'm not going to take the manifold off again to repaint it. I think because the paint is only a four months old I can clean the spot and touch it up. Or should I tape it off and repaint the entire manifold?? I still have the same can of paint I used before.

My question, I know I run the manifold temp up to 350 to cure the paint. How many times to you suggest I do that?? I thought a few times running the temp to 350 letting it cool off for a few minutes and repeating. I know you guys will have a suggestion. Thanks in advance.
Z, If its the same as it was 25 years ago, that stuff takes a long time to cook off and stop outgassing. I think you are totally safe doing a touch up on it. I thought it lasted well considering the condition of my exhaust manifolds to begin with. Using it inside the house on the furnace was not the best idea, but it does look pretty good and has lasted 20 years.

Thats why im working at home.
I gave up great wages, annual raise, benefits and pension plan. I decided its not about the money.

And after a minor coronary episode at work the year before i just made a split second decision, and went home. Oct 9th will be 4 years ago.

Late work night due to the Masters tournament, a ton of Chinese are here, so busy I could not even pause for a drink of water. Good for the paycheck, though.

I have to say, the new attitude I decided to have, of not letting situations bother me, is going well!

Happy Friday everybody...

Fly-by and I'm off to work...

We got a dusting of wet snow and the roads may be a little sloppy... Plus idiots that don't know how to drive in this stuff.... I need to leave a little early...

Be safe out there. We went from a forecasted 4-6 inches two days ago to a dusting now later today. Showing 70's several days next week, I think we're almost done with this winter crap.:)
