So I forgot to pay attention when I pulled my driveshaft. I don't remember if the small end goes toward the transmission or the rear. It's a 3-speed with a 8 3/4 rear of that makes any difference.

Towards the trans.

Im gonna go against the grain and say tapered end toward diff. My theory is if its going to break at the weakest point (narrowest area), you want the tail to break not the head.....
Notice inertia yoke at trans end and tapered end at yoke.

The big collar end goes to front, that is for sure.

Mopar A body.
Also, I shortened my driveshaft when I put the 42RH trans in and I would remember if the yoke was then too small at the back end.:D
