An old pal of mine, who started his carb shop in the late 80's is suffering some medical set backs, mentioned to me that he was going to sell out to a shop in Detroit. After 3 days of careful consideration, I drove back over and said " I would like to buy it". So After 19 yrs of chasing firebrick, and doing carbs as a hobby, I'm taking the plunge into what will hopefully be my final career change. I'm currently serving an apprenticeship under him right now, and have got the ball rolling for the money to change hands. After which I will keep the location, and he will still be in the shop for my consultation. The name is Woodruff Carburetor in Youngstown Ohio. We do everything from a basic rebuild, to a full show quality restoration. Auto, Marine, Ag, Drag, Circle, etc. Everyone is welcome. After it is official I'm going to look into becoming a FABO vendor and offering a member discount, as he currently does almost no advertising. Wish me luck, I'm going for it!

Go for it. Is the PO going to stay on a while and let you get some time to get up and running on your own?

Do you do plating and refinish them as OEM for restorations?

Yes, as long as his health will let him. His mind is sharp and willing, his body just don't cooperate all the time.

Congratulations and best of luck with your new venture!

Sounds like a great oppurtunity!
Good luck!

Good luck!!!! Sounds like something you will fully enjoy!! Find a way to keep your name handy for people here. There is a need for a correctly rebuilt/replated carb no doubt with pricing aimed at us A body types!!

I hear ya barbee, I don't forget where I come from. Thanks everyone

Too bad it wasn't a rear end rebuilding shop.
Then you could have called it ''Dana Rear Diffs''.
If you were 60 years old, it could be called ''Dana 60 Rear Diffs''.
lol!

That's awesome! I remember Chet Herbert rolling around his speed shop in Anaheim in his wheelchair, he sold me his 318 stage II cam! Have the old man stay for as long as hes willing. Knowledge is priceless. Id say dont be afraid to get into injectors too. Easy money cleaning and flow matching them.

Best of luck!!! Advertising is important but great reviews are KING. Don't be shy soliciting and posting them, they make a difference.

I’m down in Cincinnati. If I ever have anything I need done I will keep you in mind.

Best of luck

Congratulations, I am very excited for you! I wish you all the best and will recommend you immediately to a guy I’m sending a carb to this week for his car. This is very cool news!

Congratulations...
If you're ever thru Finleyville again, you'll have to stop.
Maybe I'll see you at Quaker City too.

Good luck with your new venture!! It's very exciting!

I visited your way once when my son got married. He lives on Lisbon St.
