Hmmmm...you made it sound like you were being all honorable choosing not to take a job with double pay because you like your current work environment, and were willing to work for less to stay happy.

But it seems that wasn’t the case after all. It was the travel requirement that made the decision, not the work environment.
 
I left a 23/hr job to take one at 19.
11 minutes travel vs 1hr.
Fuel and monthly oil changes i came out ahead.
Within 5 years i was earning my 23 again.
 
The wine and spirits open house was a success there must have been 70 people there not a parking spot in the lot. I brought home a couple bottles of whisky that was really good . The tasting worked

The red label was the best. I brought one of those home. Unfiltered it may even have a little oak barrel in the bottom of the bottle. It's real stuff

I can respect that.

Perhaps my experience is different than most. When I went into Science, my goal was to go as far and high as I could. I started as a lab assistant at DuPont. In the the 30 years since, I have been promoted 15 times across the 9 Companies I have worked for and am now at the Executive level of Chief Techincal Officer. My salary has doubled every 5 years on average since I started on this path.

Maybe I’m just an ambitious SOB...but settling for less was never in my nature.

I earned it by hard work and long hours...sacrifices untold. All I want now from any Company I work for is respect for what I am...and have earned.

Perhaps my perspective is warped...but I have none other.

I am who I am.

And yet, with all of that...I choose to be here with you guys rather than anywhere else in my off time. Real people who are genuine in what they want and do. Like me at heart.

Madder still, I spend hundreds of hours of my free time creating artwork and giving it away for free just for the joy of doing it...and the joy it brings to those viewing it.

I am a dichotomy of purpose. One to be ambitious to provide for my family as best I can, and the other to share time and my art with friends.

I’m either a madman or just a simple basket case. I’m not sure I know which.

Either way, it won’t change between now and the end of my existence on this planet.

I am who I am.

The travel thing played heavily into it. But so did the work environment.

You're a great guy Dave. I just hate seeing/hearing how you're being treated. As I have said many times, money isn't always worth it. You've got to consider what it's doing to your mental and physical health. You know this.

As for your art, I really appreciate it. And I'm sure others on here will more than agree.

I consider you to be a friend Dave. One that I know will gladly smack me when I have dumbass moments(which you have figuratively several times on here :lol:)

Seriously, a year ago, my boss wasn't the only one who talked me into going back to school. You did as well. And I listened, for once and I don't regret it at all. :thankyou:
 
i know it's early but does anyone know of a thread sealant that is high temp enough to survive on exhaust manifolds?

Loctite 2620 is good to 650 degrees, don't know that that is high enough and don't know how well it performs so how's that for help?
 
Good Morning all. Hope everyone is off to a great start. ....need more coffee myself....
 
Is it Friday yet? I could use a weekend! Didn't really figure out my tip out, used manual crank and once partially opened the switch did the rest. Limit switch or stripped gears on the rail, will have to take a look. Also here last night no hot water, lost a switch on the hot water heater, blew breakers changing it (I know to cut power before working but do you think I did?) Jumpered the switch and will be looking for one today.
