i am getting ready to swap my 1971 Duster to bbp on the front. I want to mount the calipers towards the front per the factory 73-76 location. Can a 73-76 swaybar be used if the lca tabs are located in the 73-76 location ?

Not without K member surgery. The 73-76 sway bar runs up and through the 73-76 K member, the 67-72 sway bars run underneath the K member and there isn't a provision to pass the sway bar through the 67-72 K member. You'd have to cut a channel through the earlier K if you wanted to make a 73-76 sway bar fit...

Thanks for the info! I have a 67-71 swaybar but I've read that they will not clear the bbp conversion with forward mounted 11.75" calipers. Is that true?

Sort of?

With everything stock there is interference. But, it can be done. If you shorten the end links you can usually gain enough clearance to run the disks to the front.

That won't work either with 73 to 76 LCA.

Not true. You can run the 11.75’s and calipers to the front with a 73-76 K and sway bar. It’s only the forward mounted caliper with the 67-72 sway bars that have issues.

Just swap spindles from side to side and rear mount the calipers. That is what I did on my 69 Dart. Even with the early model sway bar your calipers will hit the sway bar when you turn sharp if you front mount them.

I did the same & put the calipers facing rearward.

That’s the easier way to do it, no modifications to the end links and less chance of any interference.

It does take longer brake hoses though. That’s really the only downside, the routing isn’t quite as clean.

1969 Camaro hoses are perfect. Cass from Doctor Diff also recommends the same hose.

There are early k-members with the holes in the bottom to fit the late bar. I also know where one of these is and it is for sale, but why don't you just use the k-member from the donor vehicle?

I think all would agree that the later K member with fail safe motor mounts is optimal choice. Problem is so many K members are either warped in a collision, have damage like lower arm pivot pin holes wollered out, or are the slant 6 type requiring V8 adapter mounts, or D. all the above.
Switching the spindles left and right to move the calipers to the rear is the most common method of assembly using the pre 73 K.
In recent years we've seen a few cases where the calipers were to the front on pre 73 suspension/K member. The shorter end link kits for 73 up were assembled below the clip on the earlier lower arm instead of above. Apparently this is a alternative solution, no parts hitting parts. Fluid hoses correct for 73 up A-body used too. Those end links may hang a bit low but... so do the OEM triangle shaped forward mounts of that earlier sway bar. If I ever do the disc brake upgrade, I just might install some sexy red end link kits in this manner.
