Easiest cheapest way to fix dent

Just finished my engine bay today after stripping it to metal and filling in unwanted holes.

hey, it's a helluva improvement over that dull-a$$ gold color.
Mine was brown when I bought it and was gonna go with the original color but when I was a teen my car was an old lady's car color and was haunting me soooo time to change.

I'm anxious to see what it looks like in the bright sunlight.
Lots redder in the sun light and if I live long enough to finish the car will have it up in the Pacific north west because I came from there and still have family there and good friends.

Going back a few pages but.
People talk"bondo" and gets a bad name from hacks. Plastic for finishing is the norm if you want a straight decent looking body,,,lol
Its a profession and prepped and done right....Ive done cars 25 years ago that havnt changed a bit.
Now, of course, the obvious of putting 1/4" of plastic or more on pinholed rust areas and expect to last more than 3 months is a joke... just sayin.

I agree Dave that's what I do. Never had a problem yet.

I appreciate all the advice! I am doing this on the cheap. I am not a body paint guy. Yes, I am spray painting the entire car with spray cans. And no, I am not investing hundreds or thousands of dollars in this project. I just want a ten footer paint job that I will not worry about scratching when I burn the tires off the car. Lol. I’ll do my best and post pictures as things progress. As I said I am doing this on a budget and a timeline. Kids wife work= no time. And I have decided not to drop thousands on a professional paint job that will deter me into never driving the thing.
If all you want is a ten footer, leave it alone. those look like ten footer dents to me.

I've been with Dent Wizard for 24 years this summer. The process that we use is not conducive to older cars with thick sheet metal. I've been able to fix a few dents here and there over the years, but for the most part my tools bend before the dent does. If you don't believe me come on over and I'll let you look at the dings on my Dart that have been there since I bought it 12 years ago.

That is interesting... I have know the best dent guy around here for about 30 years. When I asked him about getting my Dart dens out he said he preferred working on the older sheet metal. I was surprised ! I assumed it would be harder like you said.... Maybe I misunderstood him ???

Maybe so? Some guys have different tools. I know a guy who takes dents out of steel bumpers. He basically uses the same technique as I do, but he's beating on the back of a bumper with plastic hammers and punches.

Been doing PDR work since the early 80s and loosing my touch because getting old. Older cars are hard to work on but patience and a bigger tool.

Not many good dent guys out there BrianT your one of the few.

First coat of blue in the engine bay. Not perfect but I’m happy with how it’s shaping up!

nice work! They do sell rustoleum in a gallon can. HF gun gravity gun is decent enough to fake it (sometimes <$20 iirc), pretty sure those are HF jack stands and AL 1.5T jack, and i see the compressor right there... Not casting stones, just echoing the advice already given. it already looks better than you started and better than the worn out 80's earl scheib thats on my car. keep on keeping on.

Thanks for the positive thoughts. I won’t lie, the paint job is definitely not perfect, however once I am done I will he slightly more experienced as far as paint and body.
