Started sorting through the tote bins of interior parts that came with my car. The door cards look like they're in pretty good shape. Had to give them a little TLC but I think they'll work fine. Have a lot of cleaning up and some dying to do.

Wish my door panels looked that good. Mine got ruined in my old building. I am gonna make new ones using that fiber board stuff and some vinyl and adhesive spray!! Im gonna use my old ruined ones for a pattern. Well I'm gonna attempt to make my own let's put it that way. It may be an epic fail. Haha I just can't afford the 1000+ from classic industry for new ones.
You've got time. Keep your eyes open, buy one here, one there. But I think you could get good results doing your own. I've done a couple package trays with Masonite from Lowe's.
Yeah looks like Rob just has the drip rails prepped. Hasn't put a seam sealer down yet but I'm going to take a look at the product he said he found.

Yea that's it masonite. And I found some woodgrain adhesive vinyl to do the top and the pleated vinyl for the covering. I'm gonna try to make it looks as original as possible
Rear trim in. Masonite package tray and trim paint worked good. Panels and armrests cleaned up nice, thank goodness.
Got a little more done today. Finished cleaning and prepping the driver side drip rail.
Firewall insulation and some interior assembly.

I was working on my engine bay yesterday and my ADD kicked in and I started messing with the pillars and drip rails they need alot of work! What is the best way to repair this? And btw this body filler material is factory I never worked on that part of the car. Its coming out in chunks? I'm gonna strip it all down and refill it. Do you think all metal filler would be best?

I ordered it from eBay. I forget the name of the company but I think they're the biggest. And there's about three or four different options you can get as far as the backing goes. In true form I got the El Cheapo. LOL it's still pretty good stuff. Has one pretty good layer of insulation on it.

The best way, is subjective depending on the car, the person, and the budget.. First you're going to have to remove the drip rail trim, the windshield trim, and see how far this goes. Maybe not. Depends on your wallet and your intestinal fortitude. And God knows what you're going to find there. And you know how the story goes from there. When we're dealing with these cars we have to decide one of two ways.
1. Repair and replace rusted metal. Maybe a lot. Which means the car is possibly down for a long time.
2. I'll probably get torched for even mentioning it, fix it best you can, mud it up, paint it with cheap paint, run the dog s*** out of it.
Depends on what you want out of it. A real nice show car, that might take years to build, or just a driver you can beat on.

Yeah they say it's molded. And for the most part it is. Not perfect but not horrible, you know what I mean?
Got bored waiting for my heater box that I shipped from Carlisle to get here, so I decided to go with a blue hood. Paint doesn't match, lol. But I like it better than the black.
Edit: Screw the heater install. Which looks awesome, btw. Who needs a heater right now?

And that is the beauty of these things being made with minor changes between 67-76 you can now have your dart ala carte.
Drive it like it is for a while. I like the originality of the paint right now. Will go with some sort of blue at some point.
Exactly! I think I'm gonna find some steelies and dog dish HC to keep around for a little different look, too.

Same here! I'm gonna hang onto my rallies so I can switch back and forth If I want.
Not much progress. Just to damn hot to enjoy working on the car. Slowly assembling the interior. Door cards were cracked at most of the spots where the attachment clips go. Got tired of screwing with them and just used some black interior screws. On the driver side the cover on the bottom was cracked and pulling away. Just glued a strip of vinyl along the bottom. Probably should dye it to match.

Looking good! I hear you on the heat thing its probably no where near as hot here as where you are and I was completely soaked thru my shirt in about 10 mins the other morning. And it was 8am it wasnt even hot yet!!

That's a pretty good looking shop you got there have you ever thought about adding air to it? Even a window unit would be better than nothing.
