I know this topic is wildly discussed across the internet, however it is almost always saturated with stroker motors, 5000+ converters w/transbrakes, 4.88+ gears ect ect..... all that stuff is cool, but in the real world of traffic and interstate speeds, you aren't going to daily drive them like that...maybe 1% of you do...kudos. That being said, What are your STOCK STROKE, 340/360s running with midrange converters and 2.94-4.30 gears?

340 for my Duster (then in my 70 Cuda) ran
8.43 1/8
Stock bottom end 70HP, J-heads, Performer RPM intake, 750 Holley, 3500converter/3.55 gears.

My 70 dart weighed 3310 without driver. I had a 360 magnum, 2.02/1.60 EQ heads, 218 @.050 cam, 2800 stall, 3.55, 26×8.5 slick. I had the 625 carb tuned decently using an AFR gauge. I went 8.18@84MPH with a 1.8 60'. Went 12.88@104 in the 1/4.

I made 3 passes and each got faster until I got kicked off the track for no helmet. I could have stalled it up more and maybe got a better 60'

'76 Duster w/360. Pretty much a stock 360. Stock heads, eddy intake, 750 DP, headers and less cam than a factory 340. Yes, has the dished-low compression pistons like the good ole' 360's had. Stock 904/converter, 2.76 gears. 13.5's in the 1/4 on a hot summer day consistently. Still Tuning :) Obviously a highway cruiser.

340, 67 Barracuda notch.
Best run we ever had with that engine.
upload_2019-8-20_22-50-57.png

Holley 3310, Street Dominator intake, CC 280Hydraulic, cast iron manifolds, T/A 17505 med (3000 brake stall). 3.23 rear, 24" Yok A008 (225/50r15)

Note on reaction time for the newer racers. RT clock used to start when the first light turned on. Half second later is the green. A perfect RT was 0.500
Hope I explained that correctly.

edit: Drove the car with that engine for about 80k miles including two trips North Jersey to Fla panhandle. :)

<- This '70 Dart, full interior, subframe connectors,360, mild cam, smogger heads, Air Gap intake with a very well tuned 750 Edelbrock, Mopar electronic ignition, tti headers and full 3 inch tti h-pipe exhaust, tired stock 727 trans and convertor, 3:23 gears with a Tru Trac diff, 245/60R15 BFG drag radials at 18 psi, half tank of fuel, 290 pound driver, 728 foot elevation. Shifting at around 5500 rpm netted a best of 13.78 @ 100 mph. I have no doubt that a fresh trans would have shaved a couple tenths.

My 64 barracuda went 11.84 114.90 MPH with a stock 340 bottom end, X heads slightly pocket ported, 572 lift 296 dur purple cam, 727 with a 4200 stall turbo action converter, 4.88 gears mostly 11.90's all day long.

Oh yea, it had a mechanical 6 pack set up.

68 dart, 3610 with driver. 69 spec 340, home ported j heads 2.02s, rpm intake,holley 750, 2400 stall, 3.55s. Cam was hughes solid, 237, 242 at .050 .534 .542 lift on a 107 lsa. Ran 8.3 1/8 mile and 12.94 1/4 at 106mph. Added tunnel ram and two 340 avs carbs. No other changes. 8.1 and 12.80 in a 20 mph head wind.

65 Valiant, stock stroke 360, 904, 3800 converter, 4.30 gears. Driven everyday 12 miles one way to work and back. LD340, MP 508 cam 108 LSA, ported j heads with 2.02 and 1.60s, Dougs headers and full exhaust. Car ran a best of 11.4 "somethin". Been back about 1999 or so, the details are fuzzy. lol It was more than a blast to drive. Was offered way more money for it than I had in it so it found a new owner.

my Brothers 69 Dart has got a stock cast crank 340 Bottom end, slightly ported Magnum Heads, Comp Nostalgia Purple Plus Cam PP280H, China Airgap Intake and a 800 AVS Carb, cheapo Headers and full exhaust…..running a 19802S T/A Converter with 4.11 Gears and 28x9 MT Radials, PB at the Moment 12.1 sec in the quarter.

Michael

5.9 rebuilt with stock parts, mild cam, RPM intake, 870 VS carb on a 72 Dart with 3.23 gears, full exhaust and 904 trans.

In !980 when I bought my '71 340 Cuda, all steel car, approx 3550lbs@the line.>
Stock 10:1 motor, .484"/284 purple hyd., stock 2.02 heads, can't remember the ally intake, 750DP, B&M super hole-shot (3500), 3.55's, small tube hdrs, all stock interior, suspension, M&H 8x26" slicks, best was 13.29@101 = 8.38 in 1/8th.

I did upgrade things later to a DC .590" [email protected] sft cam, Strip Dominator int., 850DP, 4.30's/4200stall/1.75" race hdrs, 10x28's and went 12.39@108 (7.84 1/8th) with same suspension+snubber, bottom end and heads, still street driven on the odd occasion....the 11.01@122 was with a 170hp shot:)

That's Dany on the left.
'66 Cuda
3300 lbs
235x60x15 street tires
3.55 SG
Stock 5.9 Magnum with a mild cam
Stock converter/904
She is leaving a lot on the table at the '60 and '330 but with the MPH at the stripe I really think if it would hook it should be in the 13's ( dare I hope 12's???)
She has less than a dozen passes on the new motor and less than 30 in her life, but she gets better every time!!!

I understand that everyones idea of a street car is different. For example I don’t think a 4:10 plus gear is really street-able, but I have put 700 runs and 60,000 hard street miles on my 4” stroker motor with a 9.5 ptc converter that stalls 3500-4000 rpm. Forgetting the 4” crank I ran 12.3 with stock eddy heads, with 3:73 geared, 9.5 converter at 3500 lbs. driving it at a minimum 2.5 hours to the track each way. I would drive that combo anywhere!

69 Dart
3290 with driver
Stock 360 bottom end
Eddies
Airgap
904
8 inch convertor
4.30 gear
Best ET
11.26@ 118.40

My old 340 ran 7.24 @ 94 in the 1/8 and 11.61 @ 116 in the 1/4. It was in my 69 Dart 4.30 gears with a 275 tire, 3240#, 727 with a cheap 9.5" converter. The engine had a Hughes 237/242 @ .050", .587/.594" hydraulic flat tappet cam, Curtis Bogs ported Edelbrocks with a port matched Weiand X-Celerator intake and a Q-750. It was 11.4-1 and ran pump 93. I drove it a lot and never had nay issues.

11.82 in my 1972 Duster around 42 years ago and raced 2 days a week at the strip and 5-6 days on the street.
340 stock crank, stock rods, Direct Connection pistons
590 Mopar cam, Portosonic intake with a 750 Holley carb
727 transmission with J convertor
8 3/4 with 4.56 gears
3250 pounds with super stock springs
frames connected and 8 point cage.

Guys still tell street racing stories about us.

14:30 in the 1/8 mile
Timer stopped after 20 sec for the 1/4 mile. So probably a few seconds longer. This Bad Boy is ultra quick.
:steering:

I don't know, I never had a small block. I'd like to build a small block stroker someday. lol
Some of you guys are running some nice times.

I had a ratty 65 valiant with a 340 .484 cam, strip Dominator, Holley 750, blue pump, hooker Fenderwell’s, low gear 904 with a 2800 stall, 4.30s, MT 10.5x26s, superstock springs, drove it 1 1/2 hrs each way to the track and ran 12.0s all day, until it broke a ring gear tooth and I cut it up.

340 stock bottom end MP .474 280 cam 340 X heads (bone stock) 727 w/2800 stall with 4.56 gears and 26x10x15 slicks.
Best run at 1/4 mile (4400 foot elevation )14.03 2.2 60 foot.....can't remember the mph any more......96????
1/8 miles was 9.70s after i got it tuned for 6600 foot elevation.(10s before) My combo was alway missing a good high stall converter.340s like to rev...........

68 dart, 3610 with driver. 69 spec 340, home ported j heads 2.02s, rpm intake,holley 750, 2400 stall, 3.55s. Cam was hughes solid, 237, 242 at .050 .534 .542 lift on a 107 lsa. Tunnel rams rule...

Zero-deck [email protected], OOTB-Eddies/AG/750DP, and a Hughes HE3038AL cam (230/237/110). Scr of 10.85,Commando A833/ GVod/8.75 with 3.55s/ CenterForce/oem 340disc
In the Eighth, went [email protected] with a 2.2something-60 ft. at 3467 raceweight
I used the GVod as a splitter; 3.09-2.41-1.92-1.50 and 93 by the math, was supposed to be ~6200..
Came out granny style, then nailed it and the tach hit 7000 and stayed there all the way thru the traps. That was two electric shifts and one tug on the stick. BTW; 93 in Overdrive is 3200rpm. This is a very streetable combo.

More streetable, and more fun, was;
With the next smaller cam (HE2430AL) and no overdrive, and the regular 2.66 box, same car went [email protected]@3650 raceweight, with 3.55s,I think on 245/60-14street tires, lol; on the same track, just 3 years earlier. This combo with a hiway-dedicated 600carb and double-overdrive, made phenomenal fuel mileage. With a 750DP, she was my DD for 4 summers. I cannot relate to you how pleased I was with this engine.
Towards the end I was running the Commando A833/GVod/3.55s and this too was an excellent combo with 65=2240rpm, and takes off like it had 4.10s
If you build a clone; well, let me just say this; after I fit 295/50-15s on the back, I was a happy, happy man.
The HE3038AL cam is also really nice, but it sucks gas big-time and no amount of tuning has been able to,in over 10 years, change that. It stopped being my DD soon afterwards.
Here in Southern Manitoba, my nickel-plated TTIs began rusting thru at the merges, at about 40,000 miles, after the fifth winter.
