360 Magnum Pictures

So now decision time. Matt will probably use the PRW rockers. His springs are good for .600 lift, but I don't think I want to push stock rockers that far. I already have a set of the comp studs, and junk comp magnum conversion guide plates that don't fit. We will have to cut a strip out of the guide plates to get them to align the rockers on the valves, because the pushrod slot spacing is wrong.

Just remember, if you are checking P/V and rocker ratio with checker springs rather than the springs you'll be running, you'll see much more rocker ratio. All rockers flex and all rockers if they are worth a crap will have extra ratio built into them. You'll also gain even more P/V with the springs your running over the checking springs.

Good point , you are right. I was using checking springs. I will retest with the real springs although then my checking pushrod may flex a bit.

Went out and rechecked with the lunati springs. I used the rocker that was .604 before, now .576. So a 1.64 ratio. I did not check the PRW rocker. I am an early riser and it is getting late.

The short block is together. Still have a little work to do on heads. Need to pull old engine from the truck and go through the 727. Hope to get this going before cold weather sets in.

Been grinding iron. Hands are sore.

Sure wish we had some of them "alumagnum" heads that everyone is talking about!

I will try to post a few more pics tomorrow.

Grinding iron is a self hate crime.

You're not kidding! I am not even doing that much, just blending mostly, slimming the guides and a little lay back on the short turn. I can't do much to the pinch, the pushrod holes are pretty thin, and I am not tubing them for a truck motor. My air grinder is about worn out and my dewalt electric vibrates the hands alot, been switching back and forth. This stuff was alot more fun a few years ago.

I have always liked the power of my dewalt die grinder, but prefered the throttling you can do with an air grinder. This morning I took a pedal from one of my wife's junk sewing machine and made me a throttle. Just plug it in the wall and plug the die grinder into it. Works

great.

Another tip. If you do not have an old 2.02 valve to protect the seat when polishing the chambers, a fender washer and carriage bolt works well. I did not have an old 2.02 with 5/16 stem. Use a wing nut on the bottom. Don't go nuts tightening it.

Still a little to do on the intakes, but getting there. First pic. is the R/T head, second is a regular magnum we started on before Matt scored the R/T heads. The wrench is .950"

Oh Yeah, one last tip. If you borrow your wife's I-pad to take pictures, and it's case has a magnetic latch, DO NOT set it on the bench with all your grinding dust!

The heads came out an average of 58ccs. Compression will be 10.7. Poured a couple intake ports and came out at 188ccs.on one 189ccs on the other. Need to clean them up and get them together.

No pics. today. I am still in the dog house getting all the porting dust on her Ipad.

Nice cc's on the intake ports.

Yeah, going to be hard to get past a cast iron nasty iPad!!!

Ok, I am going to derail this with one of our family stories.

When we were expecting our third son, our only car was a 71 demon. I had a decent 360/ 904,3000 stall, 8.75 with 3.55s in it. We knew that three car seats were not going to work with a two door. My wife spotted a nice four door, slant six, 71 valiant in town. Long story short, we ended up buying it.

So, I decided to sell the demon, but kept the drivetrain from it. I told my wife one morning that I was going out to start the swap. I was making a pass. side motor mount for the swap grinding a piece of steel plate on the bench grinder. I got distracted when I noticed I was throwing sparks on my new safety glasses... that I wasn't wearing. So I reached to move them and stuck my finger in the grinder. Ground to the bone!

I ran in the house bleeding like crazy. I hollered "Honey I got my finger" She yelled back "Yeah...?" I said " I got it pretty bad" she says " I'm busy". I say "You NEED to come help me"
She says " I don't have time to mess with you".

I walk to the doorway of the bedroom where she was folding laundry and said "I need you to bandage this for me!" She looks up and runs to help.

She knew I was swapping motors, and thought I said " I got my fender" !!

From that day on , when I really need something, I say "I got my fender"

Blah blah blah machine work than this great story.....

Matt came home from work with 2 cans of chrysler blue paint. I think he wants to get this finished. We went out and put his heads together after supper.

We have tons of stories after 26 years.

I am surprised you didn't ask about the Pro Comp heads in the background of one of my pics.
What'ch ya talkin about Willis...?
The orange ones?
(Also you made me look!..)
