Last chance to stop me from buying the hype...

Exactly. Like the TQ and the Qjet. Just understand that to take the bog out (and you should tune it so there isn't a bog...some dudes like the big VaaaHaaaaaWhaaaa when the secondaries are opened and the air valve flies open like a screen door...if your lucky when we get cheeseburgers I'll tell you why years ago I stopped tuning TQ/Qjet carbs...it's a regular deal) you may never get the air valve all the way open. Some guys think that's ok, but I'm not one of them.

Same for the 1850/3310 Holley carbs. Most of the time, the secondaries never open all the way. And I hate that.

Like I've said before...brass and drill bits are cheap. It's much easier to configure a Holley style carb.
4779 Holley DP. Been around forever, works on a 318 or 440. I've seen them work great on a 15 second ride, and on 10 second rides. :) I mean, what other carb will cut a 1.8 60 ft times on a stock 360 with a stock converter and 2.94 gears??? Do I sound partial? :realcrazy:

okay first of all just so you know I'm paying attention how did your moms surgery go today or did it??..
Second of all "if I'm lucky when we get cheeseburgers" I am ready tomorrow...
At 11 a.m. I need to get my yearly physical (I'm over 50 so I fear the finger is inevitable!)
A cheeseburger would help get my mind off of what just happened....

You sound partial and like a broken record...:poke:...
Did you ever think that 60 foot time could just be the dumb luck of the combination...:D:rolleyes:...

I'd say a terrible combo with a great working carb. Don't forget the driver/tuner too :poke:
Remember, it's carbs were talk'n :)

It doesn't matter what other people think and yes it's my money.. BUT, not taking into consideration what other people know? Or have experienced? Or know of a better product? Or know of a better price?.. I thought that was the good part about the Forum getting to ask questions... I remember I had to run out and snap up that 8-quart milodon oil pan that's been nothing but a pain in the butt notching my frame in the whole nine yards just to be told later that everybody knows about that... Damn it I didn't or I would have never bought the damned thing... What title says just want to make sure I'm not doing nothing terribly wrong here..

Again the title says it I'm pretty set on them, but I haven't ordered anything and this is a forum where I could be suede a different direction if it's warranted...
Again one carb that came with the car and one carb that was given to me as scrap metal and then work just fine for the last 5 years or more. I'm wanting something new for my car- something that not only makes it run better but makes it look better as well. Well my bucket seats are desperate for upholstery I'm more into the way it runs and it's Mechanicals I would really like some brand new carburetors to start from scratch clean and tune them together...
You of all people! Promax to small block Speedmaster to Big Block Speedmaster...
Now who's starting this spacebook (that's what I call it) drama..
I like your thought process on this!

So you spent $800 on budget heads and now you want to take off running carbs and spend $600 on new ones?, who are you and what have you done with budget man jpar? lol. Seriously do you really want to spend that much on carbs that may or may not be an improvement?, I'm just saying you may give this one some thought before plunking any cash down. Go to lunch with Yr first.

LOL I said to my wife 318 said this and he said that and her only answer with a quizzical face was I thought he wasn't coming back to the beginning of the year!I
Bahahaha..

I said he got all grumpy and picked up his sandcastle making tools and walked away with his bottem lip sticking out but he's back..

You'll have to think what you may, sorry, no details. :)

P.S. - you told your wife that a guy on FABO signed off for a bit??? LOL :D that there is funny

I will start with the last thing first and the first thing first.. if yellow rose met me for lunch or agreed to this week I would hold off on buying my carburetors until said conversation was had.. "BUT" (and if I could make that "BUT" as big as the size of the whole entire viewing screen I would!!).. it's been two or three years now and I just don't see it happening and can't put my life on hold till it does...
Now on with the real questions..
As far as my budget I sold an unexpectedly big item on Craigslist the other day and got $400 together like I said and made another hundred today so I have a $500 budget so far.. some more work lined up for the next couple days so I'm thinking I could get two new carburetors.. as far as them running better I would only hope so..
As far as the car and where it is and what it's supposed to do, it's there for my pleasure and happiness...
Correct I have those new heads and they're going to be cool on the car and shiny. I also have my old ProForm electric water pump and my very expensive March performance reduced pulley to run the alternator without a water pump. When I run just two pulleys the large Stock main pulley makes the belt fly off cuz it's too fast without triangulating...
So I'll post my motor and pictures of the parts and you can see that these two old dirty used second-hand carburetors that have done their job for all these years would be out of place with a new set of Speedmaster heads in lieu of the black painted heads I have and the ProForm water pump and March performance pulley in lieu of the stock stuff that I have. And then a couple beautiful Chrome demon Street carbs or whatever yellow rose has this week if him and you can meet me for a cheeseburger to talk me out of or I could just say screw it and get what I them anyways of course.. all while enjoying a big free non fast-food cheeseburger...

^^^now can you see this all together with some direct connection dual quad air filters and a couple blue pentastar medallions on top??..
I'll look at these crusty old carburetors even if I dip them and pull them out extra clean I'd still have to buy rebuild kits and still have two mismatched different brand carburetors...

She made it through the first part pretty good. The docs said she be wearing a pacemaker for at least a few days and that 1 in 100 people with this treatment need one permanently. When we got to her room, she didn't have the pacemaker on. The docs said she is a tough bird and didn't need it. So we are happy about that.

Tomorrow we find out if she needs the other procedure or not. We are hoping no, but when we came home for the day all her doctors were still in surgery so we won't know until tomorrow at the earliest what's next.

Thanks for asking!

Twin 4160 series 450s. On a one inch spacer. (The carbs were to low for my liking.)

There is these carburetors that sell for $240 and they're refurbished new?.. these and even the ones that you showed me when I looked them up they are vacuum secondary? Also they said they estimate that they'll be sent out by Christmas.. I am not a fan I'm sending out my money for something that's not in stock...

was it 288 for Demons? 323 for QF? .... ieeee... ok, i'll quit

Disagreed without hitting the button I'd not sure qf but the ones I seen were refurbished for 240...
the ones you had pictured is like a 1850 Holley. I'm talk'n about the QF in the links I posted earlier.... a whop'n 50 dollars more than the Demons? To not as roll the dice, I know what I'd do. But it's your nickels :)

roll the dice is what they were saying about Speedmaster heads but look at us now...

Generally when I order stuff through Summit and something's wrong they're spot-on and always have been..

Never liked the Demon carbs. Its mismatch parts.

Im very happy with my 450 twins. Altho i do have twin 660s on the shelf for my boosted build....

Hell id be really surprised if you couldn't find two, 4150, 750 CFM for dirt cheep.

Two trains of thought on tunnel ram set up.

Wide open and street use...

If you try and tune twins on a tunnel ram for the street its gonna be a long hard dissapointing road...

At some point you just gonna have to say, "thats as good as it gets with out making hard choices."
