Stop in for a cup of coffee

First thing to do it GET THAT ENGINE GROUNDED TO THE FRAME/FIREWALL!!
Hope it does the trick

That starter sounds like it is wanting a better ground to me, or the battery is low, or could the starter be pulling all the bolts because its wore out ? Just thinking out loud
Battery is probably a bit low, its been sitting a couple months. I put it on the charger over night.

So I'll start by checking the ground strap and the ohms
then move to checking/swapping the coil/dizzy.

can you have too many grounds? I know there's one that goes from the intake to the firewall, whether it got hooked back up or not, can't confirm. But If I were to add a second ground, would that affect anything or a waste of time/money/effort?

Usually the neg cable from the battery goes to the block/bracket somewhere. Can definitely be a ground issue, no ecu with a points distrib.

I have two, one from the intake to wire wall and one front the head to the front frame rail under battery. Nope, a good ground is a must do, wont Bert a thing and I advise it.

currently, it goes from the battery to a bolt on the front of the head.

sweet, I've got a couple spare grounding straps I'll try

Add a good ground wire to the radiator support off the battery

Chris before you run grounds all over checkl each area to see if that is the cause you want it under 3 ohms.

Yep, should be next to your radiator by the battery on radiator support. Hops is right.

should look like this when it is done!

Can never have enough grounds. except in your coffee, then its best to not have any...
